Gobblers just breaking up here in Polk. Instead of a group, seeing solo birds. Had a Longbeard strutting yesterday around midday.

They’re still in bachelor groups in far north Florida. I’ve seen several groups in open fields and no strutting yet.

I'm never been much of a turkey hunter but as soon as the trees start getting a little new green growth it's time.

Heard one gobble last night at 8PM when I was coming into to the house.
Not uncommon to hear a late gobble from a rio but I’m not in Texas and I thought it was pretty odd for an Osceola. 🤷♂️

10-4 Walker. I used to have Osceola’s roosting close to the house that would shock gobble around that time of evening if I made a loud noise out back. They haven’t roosted there in a while.

Here west of Palatka they've been doing the single walk for a while but so far.......it's been quiet. Though, last few years it's been rather quiet even with our place being ate up with them.

They were very fired-up yesterday morning in Hernando Co. I did a 3-note yelp on a diaphragm and thought I was going to get attacked! This happened on multiple locations around the property. The next three weeks are sure going to draaaaaaag by! LOL

I'm chasing one down and failing at the moment. He gobbled some this morning but followed some hens off from the roost.
Place is covered up in hens. Going to be a long day.

I finished up my honey do list sunday and can finally hit the ground. It's been killing me that I haven't stepped in the woods since deer season ended a month ago.

Had one gobbling here near Tallahassee this morning way after fly down time. I made a couple soft yelps to him and he came in silent and hour later.
I’ll see him in a couple weeks…

This morning in the pasture working the GSP heard two gobblers in Eastern Leon County. Spent yesterday helping with a "forest cleanup" in ANF, did not hear anything.

My 17 year old Swamp. Sorry no story! I was tired. We were on these birds (3 longbeards) since sunrise, we had them at 75 yds at about 745a and finally got them to commit after drifting away and back around 930a. Fun hunt, many gobbles. I hunted with him because camp was pretty full and didn’t want to mess anyone else up. We swung by the farm in manatee county on the way home and pulled cards. They are doing it there as well.

I did my first little scout trip this morning preparing for the opener. I just heard one bird and he only gobbled 7 or 8 times and flew down with a couple of hens.

Think I heard 6 different gobblers yesterday am. First gobbles Ive heard since opening day 3/2. Perfect conditions yesterday and today, cool calm and clear a day or 2 after a front. Too much gobbling likely means Hens near them. Hard to compete with that.....
