While testifying to a Federal Trade Commission attorney Tuesday, Kroger's Senior Director for Pricing Andy Groff said the grocery giant had raised prices for eggs and milk beyond inflation levels.
On milk and eggs, retail inflation has been significantly higher than cost inflation," Groff said in the internal email to other Kroger executives.
But don’t worry I’m sure they were the only ones doing it

But don’t worry I’m sure they were the only ones doing it So why would corporations raise prices above inflation all of a sudden? Who said it was all of a sudden? 2022 was the first time inflation went over 4% since 2008. I am sure it has happened in the past. We just never had a "investigation" into it like the current political climate dictates. Eggs and milk are commodities, the prices fluctuate all the time. I have seen eggs change by $1 a dozen back when Trump and Obama was President. But it was only eggs and it lasted only a few months. Nobody had an "investigation" into it to see it the grocery stores made an extra 25c a dozen when the price went up. I have seen the opposite happen as well where wholesale prices increase and the retailer not raise prices as much as cost and profit margins shrink. It depends on the market situation at the time.

I find it funny that when I tried to explain the concept of excessive profits by the big players all the haters here were universal in their negative comments regarding my explanation. Now one of their corporate leaders confirms my opinion where are they?

We live in a pretty rural area, no idea where the closest Kroger store is. I do see their delivery trucks several times a week, I’m sure that costs money. Maybe the lard asses that can’t drive 20 miles to WD or Publix and want their shit delivered are more of the problem here? Maybe Kroger is just providing a service and covering the expense?

I have seen Kroger delivery trucks here in Gainesville and I think the closet store is Jacksonville. But that is just a guess.

Prices will stay where they are as long as people pay the price.
