For even more fun, look at the numbers under the junior Bush.

The valid point has been made that all recent administrations, R and D alike have dropped the ball with the illegal immigration problem. But the average U.S. citizen is fed up with it. At least Trump was the first pres. to at least pay lip service to the issue, hence the ground swell of his support in '16. I really don't care who gets credit for it, it just needs fixing. Seems like everyone on here just inevitably devolves the argument to the blame game. It's childish to say the least.

There was a deal on the table to address the problem and Trump killed it for political reasons. Was the deal perfect, no. But there was more give and take than ever before.

The deal was to hire more border agents to process the illegals and let them into the country faster as the current border patrol agents are overwhelmed. That doesn’t solve the problem. I was for the bill until I looked further into it.

Would you like to see what the Republican Senator who worked on it said?

Tell us why you think a open border and flooding the country with illegals is beneficial to our country and economy? Although there are undoubtedly some benefits with millions of additional consumers and taxpayers....there are plenty of problems too.
However there is no open border, and this country has been "flooded with" immigrants (illegal or otherwise) for its entire history.
What this country really needs is pragmatic immigration policy reform rather than using this issue as a pawn in a larger political game (as evidenced by the partisan arguments and language in this thread) with no effective solutions even on the table. First of all I agree there should be a workers program like there was in the 1949’s and 50’s. I think it was called the Vaquero program? Let Mexicans come in and work as long as they can pass a background check and be given a proper ID card so they can freely cross the border and work, plus it will help stop their exploitation. But the issue today is a flood of illegals from around the world and we do not have a clue who they are. And no, there has never been a flood of immigrants like this. Most are illiterate, speak no English and have little or no job skills. They will be a bigger drain on the country than what they could ever give back. Not to mention they will have zero loyalty to this country. No country on the planet allows this kind of insanity to happen.

It wasn’t even a bandaid on a sucking chest wound. It was nothing but kicking the can down the road. Everyone knows what the solution is, but to many corrupt politicians, NGO’s and cartels are making money on it. Not to mention the plan to FUNDEMENTALY change the country is well underway.

Where have we heard that before?

None of that math or your caravans changes the fact that people have been illegally immigrating to this country for decades. Illegal immigration is not a recent thing. To suggest this is only a recent issue is a lie. How did Trump compare to the guy from Kenya on the issue? Obama started bringing them down towards the end of his term and Trump started bringing them up. Thanks for pointing that out.

And why arent the numbers for Joe Biden included in that graph? Of course they cant be "removed" if they dont even make it into the country which is what Trump did.
