I made bacon wrapped backstrap w/ a maple glaze. Skewers put indirect on a 400ish weber, dusted and fried scallops and then. Added 1 egg and 1 cold beer to the seafood breader and fried 5 dozen shrimp. My carnivorous family did not give me time to make the sides. So that was it, less dishes for me! Winner.

Grilled Wings. On the Drummettes, I did a dry rub of S&P, cayenne pepper and heavy dose of Paul Prudhomme's Redfish Magic. On the flappers, hit them with S&P, and then Franks at the end. Corn and some tasteless boxed pasta side.

Cad did you use jarred slaw sauce or homemade? I was going to ask the exact same question when I read homemade slaw. Buying publix slaw mix and sauce is not exactly homemade but my mother in law will call it homemade.

I’m so moody and picky with slaw, I never know what I will like. FRESH is the big variable, I almost never even taste the shit from restaurants. Unless it’s on a hotdog of course 😏

Made some steak and mushroom gravy sandwiches, topped with cabot habanero cheese and more gravy. I’m out of paper towels now. Attachment Deleted

Im real picky with cole slaw. Very few places make a good slaw in my opinion...Mayo...apple cider vinegar...season salt ...pepper...sugar...celery salt or seeds.... a pinch of garlic powder (because I put garlic in everything) sometimes a dash of dijon mustard.

Cad did you use jarred slaw sauce or homemade? Homemade. it was mayo, dab of mustard, vinegar, lemon juice, Worcestershire Sauce, olive oil, hot sauce, pinch of sugar, and pepper. I put in a little too much mustard this time, but still pretty good. it was a modified recipe from Justin Wilson when he was on TV. Makes really good cole slaw. The original Justin Wilson recipe Ingredients 1 Tablespoon Vinegar Apple Cider 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce to taste 2 Tablespoons Ketchup tomato 3 Teaspoons Salt cayenne pepper 5 Tablespoons Mayonnaise to make spreading consistency 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil (2tbsp) 1 Lemon Juice of 2 Tablespoons Mustard (I use Grey Poupon) 1 Tablespoon Louisiana Hot Sauce (use your own discretion) & 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Powder (up to 1) I do also make it using Litehouse brand dressing and mayo. Didn't have any Litehouse in the house though. Use half the amount of coleslaw dressing and half mayo. It is good cole slaw. The jar stuff is too sweet by itself to me.

Whiting surprise...... Actually ceviche. Caught a fair number of whiting on Talbot Island Monday morning.....and a nice drum and a few blues.....and some other stuff......including a palometa..... If I remember you'll see two of the blues and a couple of the smallest whiting tomorrow. Tonight.......skinned and boned 5 of them, lime juice, chopped garlic, olive oil, olives, salt, coarse black pepper, tomatoes, parsley, cilantro, bell pepper and a bit of lemon and salt. First time with whiting.......quite good. And yes....those are garbanzo beans in there......nice twist. And the Yuenling Ale......tried it the other day......because they were out of Pabst......it's quite good, different, but good. Attachment Deleted

They've been scaled, gilled and gutted......scored too. Got a bit of homemade charcoal left along with some oak and cherry. Probably will baste it a couple of times with butter and pepper. We'll see................

Whiting were a little on the dry side. The blues.......well.......I'd forgotten how darn good they are when smoked. Fewer of them will be going back over the side.

With these near freezing temperatures, well 30 degrees from freezing, I thought chili would be good for this evening's meal.
