One more dead tonight. About a 40lb boar cooling off in the refrigerator if someone in Gville wants it tomorrow.

Good on you for sharing James! That’s what it’s all about, plus it’s way easier to toss a whole pig straight into the refrigerator and let a friend handle the rest. That’s the seventh one in the last six months or so that have gone to others.

Luckily, I have not had any hogs at the spots I hunt, until a couple months ago a big boar hog showed up at one of my feeders. Last week he was showing up at 10pm every night. I got to camp at 9, changed clothes and took my Remington 551 .22lr and headed over there. Wind was perfect the direction I was coming from. Jumped several deer on the way in but no one blew at me. I was walking in the dark. When I got to about 40 yards from the feeder I could see him coming. I got to 30 and raised the rifle and turned on a flashlight that was in my right hand along with the stock. He never even reacted to the light! When he got turned sideways, I shot. The bullet hit him just behind the ear and he spun around and took off. I shot him 5 more times and he shifted gears with each shot. He laid down at 60 yards and I walked up and finished him off. He was a good 250 lbs and not rank at all. Smelled like a deer. I drove to the local bar and asked if anyone wanted a hog. Hollywood and Jitterbug came back with me and loaded him up! They were happy campers and said they were going to feed the whole neighborhood. Glad to have got rid of him and looking forward to archery opening up next weekend! Good luck in the woods gentlemen.
