Finally back on the water after six weeks. Left at 8:30 with Sandy from New Jersey who is planning to join the Stuart Rod and Reel Club when he moves here and after today, I think I sweetened the pot. Sure wish I was a real estate agent! Fished the St. Lucie River with shrimp and put 9 Snook (Sandy 5 including a 26 inch and also a Tarpon Snook / Keith 4), 5 Croaker (Sandy 1 / Keith 4), 1 Black Drum (Sandy), tons of Snappa and Catfish. The highlight of the day was when Sandy hooked and successfully landed and I kept this one in the net, a nice Tarpon. What a fight in close quarters around docks and truly made the day. It was great having Sandy aboard today and I’m sure you will see him in a future report. Based upon Sandy’s catches, I’ll award him a “Grand Slam” for landing the Tarpon, Snook, Black Drum, and Croaker! We lasted 7.5 hours in the scorching heat. I’ll be spacing my trips out to have rest days to recover and hydrate.

So many slams.
I used to get a lot of jacks, ladyfish, catfish slams. Trash can slam we called it.

Great report! Yep resting between trips is probably a great idea. Heat and evaporation is crazy. Stay irrigated as a buddy says.

Down in the backcountry (Flamingo or Chokoloskee - or anywhere nearby...) we considered a trashcan slam to be a catfish, a puffer (blowfish) and a lizard fish for that particular award... Our best chances for these guys was always the dead of winter... You got a special mention if they were all caught on flies...
