First of last week i took the boat out to make sure everything worked as it should prior to my planned departure on the 3rd for the annual Keys adventure. It was very upsetting to discover that #5 cylinder on my 21 year old engine had zero compression. A really good friend had a couple of Suzuki 300's intended for a boat that he and I were refurbishing and he told me to rig one of those, so on Wednesday I pulled the old engine off and rigged the new engine. The wiring harness was for twin engines, so after getting everything ready, i took a leap of faith and left for the Suzuki dealer in Pompano Beach to get a single engine harness and have it initialized. After a 10 hour drive on Friday. we got that done and actually go to the rental around 8:30 Friday night. Spent over half of Saturday actually installing and rigging the new equipment and getting it running to my satisfaction. By that time, my 75 years were telling me I wasn't up to anything but launching and docking the boat for a hard start on Sunday chasing bugs. The last of the participants didn't arrive till 2:30 Sunday morning, so we didn't get out on the water till about 11. Thankfully, everything worked as it should and it was a hot but beautiful day and we ended up with a dozen bugs for our efforts. Here's hoping I have most of the stressful situations behind me for the next 5 weeks

"Leap of faith" indeed.
Glad it worked out ...
Wiring harness issues are difficult to navigate.
An old friend was driving a Chevy pickup for a few weeks.
It was a loaner from a Ford dealership who couldn't fix his brand new F-150.
They had it in the shop for weeks, unable to get the "check engine" light to obey.
It finally turned out that the Ford factory had installed the wrong wiring harness!

How'd the boat perform with the new power?

How'd the boat perform with the new power? Since it has 75 more horsepower and is 15 years younger, it's great! Fly by wire is better than I expected

Great to hear vessel back up and running. Going to be a blast for you and the crew in the Keys. As that’s a place I always love but never get to spend much time that far south.
