The weather sucked. Got an early start and hit a super secret keys bayside spot. Dodged a thunderstorm on the way, it passed behind us, and then waited out a heavy rain shower on location. There were a handful of other boats in the area, so not so super secret, but me and my dive buddy limited by 9 and made it back to the ramp without hitting weather. Got checked by FWC on the way; I told them that it was gratifying to know that they were on the job and I didn't buy my license for nothing. They caught a couple of guys last week with 19 out of season mostly undersized lobsters and a little Goliath. They said there were very few boats trying on the ocean side. Son and 2 others were down there for quick limits. Weather did suck, dodging lighting under the bridge at 8 in the flippin morning! So no extra fishing done afterwards. Be safe.

Went out, tried to wait out the storm. Gave up and went back in.

Got 1 short of 3 man limit off Lauderdale. Crowded but not as many boats as in past.

Limited out 3 man also off of Lauderdale (36) in 1 1/2 hours. Got checked by FWC in the ditch south of Hillsboro Inlet.

Got out for an hour this am before the storm and got a half doz. Saw over 100 shorts.

Got out for an hour this am before the storm and got a half doz. Saw over 100 shorts. . The good thing up north (Broward) is that only 10 to 20% are short. These are all reef crawfish and are brown or red not the green ones you find in the bay in the keys. |
