Left the house at the crack of 11:00 am and headed out with a couple of buds. the first stop was loaded with red snapper and we basically filled our limit there. Several of the fish were barely legal so they went into the live well. Mark #2 was loaded with fish also. we swapped out the smaller fish with larger ones, plus added some mangos, b-liners and a couple nice lanes. We had netted a pile of sardines at the ramp, so I rigged a spinner with a 15' long 30# floro leader and started live chumming. Five minutes later we got a pile of really nice reds eating bait on the top. Caught the 2 biggest snapper of the day (28" and 31") on flat line before flipper came in and started eating our snapper. I'm starting to really hate them. So we wrapped it up and were back at the house by 6:30. Seas were flat all day, temps were about perfect.

Always nice when the wind, waves and Lady Luck all line up for a great offshore fishing trip.

Great reports and some nice fishing. There are few things worse than losing fish to "flipper", or sharks, it can really spoil your day.

Spent most of my life bottom fishing.
For jewfish, we just caught them, and cut their throats.
When chumming for snapper, which was often, anything got in the chum line, that was not welcome, like a dolphin (rare), I emptied a clip into him. 30 06. 20 rounds.
Needless to say, don't fuck with my chum line.

Great report. I’m hoping that I can handle going offshore again. Old age is making things difficult

I promise you it's not fear in my life. It's knowing what I'm gonna feel like the day after I spend 8 or more hours off shore with two torn rotator cuffs and all the rest of the stuff does to your body after a life of construction work. I still go, though. And will as long as I can.
