Tried deep drop for Yelloweyes first. Tough conditions. Weather man got it wrong with the 5-10 forecast. Stormy and 10-15 all morning increasing to 15 by noon. Hit half a dozen numbers at least but found them on only one. Got 38 Yelloweye, almost a four-man limit. Released three Red Snapper with the release tool and one Snowy. Fished under rain most of the day. Trolled south in 500' and after 10 minutes got a double of Dorado with the larger one close to 15#. Plenty of good eats. Got this tiny grouper in close to 400' which I can't identify. At first I thought it might be a coney but it's not a Coney or Golden Coney. Any idea what it is? We sent this one down too with the release tool but being so small don't know if it made it.

That was my guess as well. Not 100% by any means.

I think you're right. I recalled catching a small Speckled Hind in the same area a couple years ago and the pattern and shape were identical, but the color more closely resembled the adults. Maybe this one was a very young juvenile. I wonder if they do survive when sent back with the release tool. All we can do is try our best.
