They just picked up the 40,000 acres next to the UF ranch off of SR60 in Osceola county. Word has it they plan to cover it with solar. They’ve already got some smaller solar developments all around south Florida, but this one is pretty major. That’s a lot of habitat and fine lease land gone in central FL. Wish they would just stick to the nuclear stuff, only takes a few hundred acres but makes way more power.

If you look at aerial photographs much, more and more citrus grove land is going solar. I wonder if it is leases or purchased land with some royalties to former owner.
Makes me sick to see food producing land under houses and this stuff.

reminds me of a guy who,s nextdoor neighbors who bought 2 acres , they cut down every pine tree, oak, palm, clear cut the entire 2 acres then started putting in solar panels thru out the property and completely covered 3 sides of there roof. this was out in loxahatchee 30yrs ago. somebody was pretty upset with this guy so they would sneak around the back of the property thru the vacant woods and toss balloons filled with paint, battery acid, different types of liquids, they even made a homemade sling shot to lob stuff onto the roof then paintball guns entered the game and it got epic, after 1 1/2 years of cops going to house weekly and city managers the family moved out, new owners removed all that shit and everyone lived happily ever after. where are all the enviromental activists they show up to save a bear or a owl but do nothing when this stuff happens.

They don’t show up cause that would contradict their own agenda. This is “green” energy, remember? Destroying all this land saves the polar bears

I wonder who the balloon guy was... Loxahatchee was nice 30 years ago. Even better 40 years ago. Undesirables did not get away with their bullshit back then out there, but a lot also depended on the definition of "undesirables". I too, am perplexed that the environazis aren't up in arms over the conversion of food producing land to these solar scams. At some point, these bitches won't have food to eat but by God, they'll have lights and juice for their gay little existence. Guess they've already determined that we'll all be eating roaches, rats, and lab produced pills. These solar sites are ugly as a prolapsed asshole. Bunch of fucking idiots.

Osceola county ain’t what it once was. First the Mormons and their planned city, now this. They bend over and take every bit of it.

I’ve got news for you, if you think this is unique to Osceola County. Yes. It is turning into a crappy place to live but so are a bunch of other once rural counties in FL. FPL has bought some other major properties of similar size recently as well that are currently providing significant wildlife habitat but will eventually be converted to solar fields. I guess they aren’t as well publicized as El Maximo but they are already closed on. Sad to see but Biden’s subsidies for “green” energy are helping to make it all possible. FPL’s customers foot the rest of the bill for these purchases. Great deal for FPL. Bad deal for FL and its citizens.

FPL purchased most of a big (25,000 acre) family ranch I used to hunt with a friend of theirs. South of Lake O. I wondered at the time what in the H*** would FPL want with that ranch? Now I know. Sad.

Yes. Thats the property being spoken about here. They have bought several large ranches over the years. They have accelerated the pace of these purchases since the “green” energy started being pushed by Biden though.
Dumbocrats are quite adept at finding new and interesting ways to screw things up. 🙄

A Florida State Constitution Right To Hunt and Fish would be of no help with this land conversion.
And in fact,if some of the proposed solar project lands are currently in hunt/recreation lease,I imagine the hunting community can not or will not rise in opposition, outreach to the general public in a news alert.

Amendment 2 isn’t intended to be a tool for environmental whackos to use to deprive private landowners of their rights in the name of stopping development.
It’s meant to protect the right of FL citizens to hunt and fish so that extremists (many of which are of your same mind concerning private property rights) can’t continue to whittle away at it as they have been for decades.

Only Enviro Wacko Hunter "Extremist" Conservationists could ever dream of effectively dealing with this Solar Lands Conversion ............ Who Else??? Then What??? Amendment Two is a right to a diminishing "Resource"and diminishing personal engagement. So perfectly clearly profiled within this Thread. As expected. I personally was involved in much Fee Simple State Of Florida Conservation And Recreation Lands WMA purchase.Jennings State Forest, Guana. More.Private land owners adored me, I Won Awards,...and some landowners......well....one directly threatened me. Threatening is Stupid. I served on the Board of the Florida Wildlife Federation.Decades.At times,Upper Level Position.( FWF was determined to be "Pro Hunt" by Florida Bear Hunt Opponents). Federation director Johnny Jones (and do not forget, Wife Marianna) told me he would rather have a Board Member he had to Reign In rather than kick in the behind...that was a compliment to me. Art Marshall ( A Big Chunk of the Glades named after Art,FWF Signature Connection/Everglades Restoration (etc) , Everglades Half Track, Barbara Jean Powell, Jack Moeller) was a personal, close friend of mine. I personally know a person that negotiated Solar Field for Jacksonville JEA. He was so proud....don't worry...the panels are only on Uplands! ( Note to some land owners: Regarding surrounding high itensity land use/dove field activities- spent shotgun pellets might cause damage to panel structure. Efforts and plan should be in place to sequester such activities sufficiently away. Beyond.)

Huh? Over your head and not even on Radar or GPS ? Well, I'm not really sure, but I think it's fair to say most of us need a Enigma Machine to decipher your codes. You should ditch your screen name and come back as the Riddler.
