Wife and I went out around 8:00. Some boats were working scattered patches around 850-950. We trolled it for 15 minutes, but I didn’t see much life.
We ran a few more miles out, and found a rip with a tiny weedline - probably 1100 depth.
Started trolling south. Saw flying fish and birds working the line.
Got a nice pull-down on the inside line after 10 minutes. 28” cow. Skinny though. But the skunk was out and our last day wouldn’t be a dud.
Continued trolling towards a group of boats. Got a double, both shorts as we approached.
We spent the next few hours working on and around the line. It was thick with mahi, but they were all 15-18” except for a 22” one we kept.
At one point we found a dark blue barrel. Every pass we got one or more mahi. All short.
The day was really active. We probably threw back over twenty fish. Would have been nice to get a few more keepers on the last day, but I can’t complain about an active day.
We are heading back to Atlanta. It’s been a great 4 weeks in Lighthouse Pt. I don’t think there were more than 3 days with seas bigger than 2’. It almost makes me want to move back home to FL 😀
BTW, when exactly did Publix stop selling dry ice? Sunday evening I went on a Publix hunt that turned into calling every Publix within 10 miles. The ones I visited had the dry ice coolers warm and empty. One stored had it covered disguised as a display table.
In atlanta this AM, I checked and my Publix has a warm and empty cooler too.
