Boy loves to fish but wants to be a great fisherman right away. LOL
I told him if you're expecting to catch fish on every trip you might want to try another hobby. He gets frustrated because he can't fish like me. I told him well if you wanna learn to fish like me get your ass over here, quit playing with the bait, and learn to tie this hook.
He'll get it though. He's a pretty smart kid.

Good stuff, I used to whoop up on mine pretty regularly, he’s 18 now and it’s pretty damn even, he’s become a pretty damn good fisherman.

I used to hate that as a kid. Go fishing with my dad or grandpa and they would be catching fish and the damn fish would avoid my bait.

Good man.......it'll teach patience......and an appreciation of nature.......and.....if you nurture it....his food choices will be better as he'll appreciate the concept of "doing it yourself" which'll lead him away from industrial food. So many times I wish I was young and could redo what so many of you have the chance to do.

I used to take my son most trips especially local off Miami and Flamingo. I used to kid him that I taught him everything he knows about fishing. Now he's 47 years old, taking his 7 year old daughter fishing and driving a private 65' Rickey Scarborough for a living and I learn something from him every time I go.

Love to have kids aboard - and try to make it fun while teaching the basics. "Be a hero... take a kid fishing" and I mean it....

I used to rig the rods and pace back and forth waiting to go fishing. Younger kids need to have stuff to do - I'd throw out a shiner and start flipping over rocks to catch crayfish while keeping an eye on my pole.

Everytime my boy asks to go fishing, hiking, shooting, whatever in the outdoors, I make sure to make it happen. Every single time.
