Who can afford to fix their trucks after they get destroyed in the mud?

There are a couple of mud bogs close by me now. Mostly kids in their lifted trucks. Someone is always sinking a new truck or busticating it so they have to get dragged out. I don't get it. I use my truck. And I mud in it when I absolutely have to get somewhere on the other side, but if I can go around, and not have go see the mechanic on Monday even better.

Sounds expensive to me. Heard the mud bog place near Keaton lost its liscense or something. Closed down. Iron horse I think. Near TRT

Lack of access and increasing costs. Douchebags who throw their beer cans and trash everywhere ruin it for a lot of folks. Just like everything else. Like anything else it starts out with a bunch of rednecks then the people with daddy money get involved and ruin it for everybody

Friend opened a mud bogg. Just found out he shut it down. Kind of disappointed. It looked like a good idea years ago

Unless I would be paid big money for it I try to avoid mud and puddles at all costs.

There's one around that I think they have had 4 deaths in the last few years. I don't see how they could afford the needed insurance.

Is this recreational pass time losing interest There are some privately operated Mug bogs. Mud Slinging places in Florida.... And Mud Slinging occurs on Public Land as well in Florida.... Withlacoochee State Forest which is also Richloam Wildlife Management area is notorious..... It is close to my house... It gets hit so hard the roads and trails in there are at times dangerous.... Which is sad... Because those are some beautiful woods back in there...
Another area I frequent... Ocala National Forest.... There are some known trails and areas that the Jeepers and Mudslingers love.... Forest Road 9 South of State Road 40 is well known... And there will a bunch of Jeepers out there tomorrow... That stretch of FR 9 has deep sugar sand, sticky mucky clay, Mucky rutted up spots with water and soft clay bottom.... It stays torn up all the time.... I do not think the US Forest Service, the FWC or the Marion County Sheriffs office likes it.... But not much they can do about it... Their service vehicles will not get back in there..
Forest Road 9 North of State Road 40 is no picnic if it is rainy..... FR 46 Between FR 33 west to FR11 is well known as well....

They should not be doing this on public roads

They should not be doing this on public roads They are not so much public roads as roads and trails within State and Federal Land... And to be fair... The roads and trails are open to vehicle traffic...
And on state and federal land there is no guarantee roads and trails are going to be passable in a 2wd vehicle... or even passable at all...
I drive off road every Saturday...... And at this time of year it is wet.... I probably ran 50 miles last saturday in 4wd....

Iron Horse Mud Ranch is still open. They only have 2 or 3 big Bogs a year but there will be 50 K folks there just having a Jam Up time. It's about a mile and a half from my crib as the Crow Flys' can sure hear the new giant PA system when ole Hank hits the airwaves about zero dark thirty. We enjoy sitting around the bonfire and just listening to the music. Can,t see the place cause it's thru thick woods but if I feel like going there it's just a short hop across my neighbors cow pasture... drop down and ease thru where the hogs and wallowed out a pass thru on the fence and Bamm..your in the Action for free....Winning

Hog Waller in Putnam county is still very popular. Bad ass SxS’s have taken over. They probably average 1 death per year.

Is this recreational pass time losing interest When I was younger in S Florida we could mud bog in so many places. 1000’s of acres. There would be 100+ trucks on any given weekend night. Rain or shine it didn’t matter Flagponds. Trails It was quite the time. It didn’t take much $ to fix if you tore something up back then Man those were great times.

I spent one afternoon getting my son's Cant-am out of hydro lock and flushing the engine and diff oils. I don't like intentionally tearing my shit up in a bog, but I'm also not afraid to work the piss outta my equipment when I need to. The biggest problem at these commercial bog places is the amount of people and wild bullshit that some of these 20 somethings pull. I try to go when there are no big events scheduled. We still have a couple places where my son rides near the house, but he has been run out a few times by the cops, like all kids should from time to time. I keep telling him it is coming to a end with the recent development that has engulfed us, so enjoy.

If you someone owns the land and allows doesn't make effort to stop it, someone will find you them liable.

But If I think I might see critters on the other side.... I run the shit out of my truck to get there....
That being said..... I think I bent my rear passenger side rim today....... And the only reason I went down that particular trail.... Was I got a call from a good friend that mentored me when I first started getting into photography..... She is capable and has a Good truck.... But she slipped off the edge on an old derelict limerock logging road... That has probably not been maintained in probably in my lifetime

If you someone owns the land and allows doesn't make effort to stop it, someone will find you them liable. Erryone lives in fear of lawyers now. We had a "hole" here that was literally the state line for Florida/Alabama. The land owner put up with it for years and tolerated people on his land. He'd even occasionally drag the road at the entrance to his property to make it easier for people without 44s and lockers to get in and out. I'm sure it was mostly for the benefit of his farming equipment than our trucks but like I said he was tolerant of us being there. There was probably close to 20 acres of clay pits a small pond and various trails of clay and samdy mix. Well the trash was getting a bit much ND he came out one Saturday and said I've been nice but yall need to stop trashi g the place and tossing g your beer bottles everywhere. And I do t care for the language I've heard. And Don't go to the other side of the road past that line. So what did the dumb rednecks do? Absolutely trashed the place beer cases, bottles, home trash, furniture dumped and set on fire. And they went across the road specifically where he asked not and did donuts and rusted up the new road he was cutting in. We'll I saw it and new it needed cleaning up but before we could the damage had been done. A weekend or two later he duge the roads out leaving huge ditches were the access drives used to be and drove stakes in the grown to the otherwise of the property and put up gates. And told everybody "insurance" was to riskey of him getting sued. That's was 25+ years ago and it's still gated and locked up today. And the county put up big concrete barricades to keep people from access the last 1/8 mile of the road to the state line. Assholes Similar story about a blue hole spring right up the road. We used to hit it after Agust football practice and cool down. It was beautiful:(

I had the keys to his big red… Jupiter island. I fished from the inlet to blowing rocks in style. I was 11 years old and that only lasted a few weeks. I only got into a little tiny bit of trouble 🤪. I hope your kid has lots of fun while he can, like all kids should.

He rides every day after football practice. For the most part, the cops are still cool but I know he's on borrowed time. With the new development will come more stringent rules.
There used to be a great place just west of us and it's still in the middle of nowhere, where I bought my first house, but the beer drinkers and shit slingers finally fucked that up and I heard last week there were barricades across rds and access points. Being where it is, it was a little surprising, but then again, given the bullshit these 20 somethings (and some of their daddies!) are willing to fuck up, it's not.

I remember well hunting in Big Cypress with our Swamp Buggy. Only went about 15 MPH and we eased along going to our hunting spots in the morning. One day we came out and it looked like a freakin Race Track. The Cubans had arrived with anything that could blow up a Prairie. When we first saw it I told my Hunting Pard...Our days are Numbered. NPS even flew me around to show me the Big Picture cause they knew I was a Local and knew most of the Locals. That is why you have so many Regulations and BS to jump thru. They were tired of the crap...and so was I. People are Assholes....

I agree, TRT. As much as I spout off about open access and recreating like a free man, I can see why the noose gets a little tighter every year. Most people truly suck.
