Good sound outcome. Darn duck feeder should have gotten a written warning. Had a lady feeding Moscoveys across the City street. One day a lady driver running a little late didn’t have time to wait on 20+ ducks to cross and she thinned the herd. Still makes me smile. News media cracks me up. Invasive species like Moscovey ducks and Sandhill Cranes.

We're treated to almost daily feel good wildlife stories. Most of them are BS. They do make quite a fuss when someone reports a neighborhood 🐊. The northern folk don't believe that if it's fresh water it has an alligator 🐊.

Are they edible? As many as we have around Alachua County, I could solve feeding the homeless with the danged things. Hate them and customers all wanted to feed them. Did sell a few loaves of bread that way.
Always wondered if they were edible.

I'm not sure about the shit eaters on the sidewalks and parking lots, but a guy I know did shoot one that flew into his decoys in the wild and he said it was the best eating duck he ever had.

That was what I wondered. The garbage eating ones. Seen quite a few dead ones and they eat all kinds of trash including cigarette butts.

A couple of us cast netted one at a keg party back in HS. Someone cleaned it and threw it in the oven. Dont think it was very good but it lacked severely in proper preparation.....

You can get $20 a piece for them at the local livestock auction.

Now if we could encourage homeless folks to round them up to sell at livestock auctions we could address 2 possibly 3 broad issues.

my dad would scoop up a dozen little yellow cuties every year ,throw them in the pen in backyard, fresh water and good feed for them and bout 3 or 4 months later they where good to go. yuuup there tasty when you care for them. of course this was 45 years ago when a man was a man. do this today and you will be on the 5 oclock news with 3 fwc trucks in front of your house.

Now if we could encourage homeless folks to round them up to sell at livestock auctions we could address 2 possibly 3 broad issues. Would be a start. The government doesn't care about the homeless especially the homeless Vets. Not everyone wants to be homeless and some had no other options. Me, my wife, and step son gather up items throughout the year and go out on those extremely cold nights around Pinellas County and give away everything we have. Most people are super appreciative and thankful. Doing this over the past several years has changed my opinion on homeless people.
