About a year ago, I bought a Locality Specific Red Tail Boa Constrictor. His genetics from both parents lineage go back to animals originally imported from the Country
of Suriname. Specifically the Pokigron region of Suriname. Boa Constrictors from this region are know for three things.... Vibrant colors with very pretty red tails and shades
of pink hues in the base colors of their main body. The are also known for not growing as large as some the the members of the Boa Constrictor Constrictor genus from other localities. With females rarely reaching 8 feet. and almost never going much over 6 feet.
He was just shy of a year old when I got him. At the time he was eating one medium to large mouse every ten days. And he was shedding about very three meals. He would fast and not eat for about three weeks during his shed cycle. I then moved him up to jumbo mice about every 12 or 13 days. He was shedding about every four meals. Again with fasting during his shed cycle... He quickly jump from jumbo mice to small rats. which I have been feeding every 15 to 18 days When I first put him on the small rats, he shed at five meals. He is on five meals of small rats and due for a feeding in a couple of days. he is showing no sign of going into shed. So I am going to feed him tomorrow...
And he is super gentle and calm.... Never attempted to bite me.... and I have sort of tested his willingness. A Bunch of people have handled him. Including people that are terrified of snakes. And my young great nieces handle him all the time.... They adore him. Never offered to bite anyone.
Anyway.... His colors are starting to really pop... and I think he is going to get better and better.
So Rembrandt

That's a pretty snake. I've seen one before with those colors, especially the pinkish hue. I don't remember when but it would of been a long time back and a private owner.

Pretty snake. I like them in the wild. My brother kept snakes and we would also go snake hunting for snakes a friend’s brother used in a herpetology class he taught. I catch a lot of harmless snakes around the house to show the grandkids and to relocate them from the neighbors pool area.

I used to collect and keep as well collect and sell... I sold so many snakes.... it bothers me if I think about it... I have not kept or sold a wild caught snake in over thirty years...
I still catch/pick them up if I see them.... Usually on a weekly basis....... I had a huge collection and was doing a lot of breeding when I got divorced in 2003-2004. But I always missed having snakes... Then I met my current wife... terrified of snakes.... Took me close to 20 years.... But I finally convinced her to one really cool snake....
