Was out doing a little bass fishing out of belle glade around the islands on the south end of the lake. Fishing was slow but I noticed those big islands down there seem to be pretty dry up on top. Looked very reminiscent of glades deer habitat. I’ve personally never heard of anyone hunting up on these islands but if there’s no predators, no pressure, and enough browse I’m sure there’s deer up in there when the water level permits. Wonder what the regulations would be for those islands if there were deer. Not part of any WMA and seem to be open to public access with no apparent closure to hunting. Duck hunting is obviously allowed. Anyway, just peaked my curiosity while the fish failed to do so. If there was any hunting up there I figure someone here would’ve heard of it.

There are very likely no deer there (99.999% certain) but there are some very nasty hogs around. They feed on crap and fresh water clams and other shit in the muck. Not worth eating.
You can hunt them under state game laws but you WILL need a airboat or you WILL get your ass handed to you on a silver plate if you survive trying to walk in. There are also a lot of snakes of various species around Kraemer Island.
I wouldn't waste my time screwing around out there unless I was going to drink beer and BBQ at the tree house.
Side note: the entire area used to be fantastic duck hunting before the state and Feds fucked it up. We used to camp on the levy before you crossed the bridge and hunt the old fields from a jonboat before they were overgrown with pond apple, other gorilla grasses, and exotic plants. Some of the best duck hunting I've ever had took place in that area. Now it fucking sucks (by my standards) for everything... even the frog gigging is a waste of time. If you're really interested in doing something fruitful there I would suggest going out at night and gigging tilapia, plecos, and armored catfish.
Others will probably be along shortly to corroborate.

The deer hunting in the lake is mostly between moorehaven and buckhead ridge. Not feasible without a strong airboat. Not a big deer population at all and it is heavily hunted. State season.

Yeah on the map I can see some dry ground right where fisheating creek meets the lake just outside the wma. Airboat tracks all over. Pretty interesting

asked a good friend who lives right by there, he knows all the good snipe spots and a few duck spots and he said dont waste your time. he has a airboat and hunts all those islands and flats. mostly snipe,a few hogs, deer maybe 1 per 7500 acres. his words. i will say this , if i had a airboat, if i lived very close by, if i had time to kill i would explore a few of those places just looking for rubs or tracks.
