I believe it's no longer a hunting area and was never much good to begin with, imho. Back then lake O and the glades offered so much good 24/7 opportunity that there was no need for a "public waterfowl area" in South Florida.
Then along came the STAs and other influences and everything turned to shit just about overnight.

I never knew the land was owned by the state. Never hunted it, as One Man said, Lake O and STAs were better. Was rice and Crawfish farm and hunting regs specifically said "no crawfish harvest allowed" LOL. Anyone if it is being farmed now?

I’m pretty sure it’s all sugar cane now.

Another public hunt area nearby was Multi-Turf. Now STA 3/4. It was a true romp-n-stomp with lots of full tracks and buggies. I think you could run dogs too. And it had doe days in general gun.

i grew up hunting the area that is now sta 2, deer, hogs, doves, ducks, quail , place was loaded with game. big bass, bluegills and specks. then the state stopped all hunting,, sta was built and now it is what it is , another poorly managed piece of land that was once open for public use now restricted.

I completely concur. Killed my first deer there. A 3000 acre tract that gave up 100 BUCKS every year. Some were real dandys too. Open 24/7. Open every day of deer season for the states corresponding seasons. Now GONE... like a fart in the wind. Killed a few deer where sta 3 is now too... Holey Land, the L5 levy... All now gone except for H Land.
