“Justice Thomas and Alito’s repeated failure over decades to disclose that they received millions of dollars in gifts from individuals with business before the court is explicitly against the law,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a statement. “And their refusal to recuse from the specific matters and cases before the court in which their benefactors and spouses are implicated represents nothing less than a constitutional crisis.”
“Congress has a legal, moral, and democratic obligation to impeach,” she said.

Waste of time and effort. Another political move to appease her supporters.
Even if she managed to get either one impeached (better odds to win the lottery), there is no way Republicans would let a new justice be appointed before the election in November. We have seen that scenario before from both sides this close to an election.

If what they did was " explicitly against the law " as she said, why isn't she going after the people that are suppose to uphold the law. I think she just made that up.
No need to waste a thread . I can show a pic of the wifey or puppies if anyone wishes.

Opinion About time: Senators demand special counsel to investigate Clarence ThomasFed up with the justice’s stonewalling, egregious violation of judicial ethics, inaccurate legal filings and gross money grubbing from right-wing billionaires with business before the Supreme Court, Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland this week demanding a special counsel be appointed “to investigate possible violations of federal ethics and tax laws by Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Clarence Thomas.” Well, it’s about time someone took Thomas’s inexcusable conduct seriously. (Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s introduction of articles of impeachment in a Republican-controlled House, meanwhile, which followed on Wednesday, is a showy gesture but a nonstarter.) The letter details “repeated and willful omissions of gifts and income from Justice Thomas’s financial disclosure reports required by the Ethics in Government Act.” And as the senators point out, investigations have been raised against other government officials for far less serious allegations. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/07/11/clarence-thomas-special-counsel-senators-letter/

You'd think those Dem Senators would have better things to do than menial tasks. Something besides another witch hunt and overblown BS . Guess that's their priority and could be considered official duty .

I believe he broke the law as do many others. He has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of free trips provided by a Republican millionaire, then Thomas failed to report those in annual reports of gifts and donations.
Crook on the SCOTUS.

I remember when the right was up in arms when one of the accepted a couple of Beyoncé tickets
Fox describes the cost of the Beyoncé tickets as “eye-popping” and includes mention of a floral arrangement gifted by Oprah Winfrey to celebrate Jackson becoming the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court. Fix the Court responded to Fox’s focus on Jackson’s meager gifts while underplaying Thomas’s extravagant boon, posting on X (formerly Twitter), “$4,000 in gifts is the same as $4 million in gifts
