Payed $12 last time to the feed store. The cheap stuff can be full of cobb sometimes, if you are filling an unattended feeder it can mess things up. Just sayin

Yes and a lot of cheap corn has aflatoxins(sp) in it. It can ruin a turkey population.

We use corn for only two things......to keep hogs coming so we can toss the dogs on them......and out in front of the house so Louann can enjoy her deer........b
Here in Palatka the price had come down about a $1 a 50# bag in the last couple of months.....

My buddy in Otter Creek swears by the Ace Sweet feed. He insists I stop the corn and switch to this.

I have switched my feeders to FRM 20. I mixed corn in it at first, but now have moved to 100% FRM 20. They are eating 750 lbs a week.

Yes. I have 3 properties and 2 are next to a state park that doesn't get hunted. We usually kill 3-4 a year as that is plenty of venison for us. I also take a lot of friends during season so there are a few more killed each year. It is expensive but is my main hobby. I have kept them full since two seasons ago. The deer are healthy for sure. The fawns this year look like pot bellied pigs...

Well that'll do it; Lots of heads to feed. I bet you've got some biggins in those two parcels bordering the state park.

There are bucks every year we do not see until the last week of October and they magically appear. They live in the park the rest of the year. I run cell cams as well. There will be as many as a dozen or so at a time sometimes. I also put out a trophy rock at each feeder once a year.

Good point on the dry part. May do well in my tough feeder but not as well in my drum feeders. Or vice versa

I have used sweet feed as it was cheaper than corn and has more protein. Took the deer a week or so to get used to it, but then they went to the sweet feed before the corn. As mentioned, you will want to use a trough feeder. Not only does it tend to draw moisture and get mushy, but it also is a little sticky from the molasses used in it.

I've got a buddy that managed a property and he used troughs for feeding sweet feed. He started adding brown mineral salt to the sweet feed and got phenomenal horn growth. I'm talking like 135" 3 yr old bucks from free range FL deer. There was a dead head found in the area that scored over 180". We attributed the horn growth to the minerals that was added to the sweet feed.

By adding mineral salt to the sweet feed, my friend was basically forced the minerals to the deer.
