Supply and demand.
Made me stick with Triple Seven. Not gonna make much diff out to 200 yards or so.

It’s been a few years since I busted out the smoke pole. I remember the triple seven being wayyy dirtier than the pyrodex.

I've used the BH 209 in the past and liked it. You would get more shots before having to swab the barrel, probably not a factor in a hunting situation. The other thing was you didn't have as much smoke so you could see how a deer reacted to your shot. So far as cost, keep in mind that it takes about 20 percent less BH 209 than other powders for an equivalent load.

What's wrong with Pyrodex..? Been shooting them pellets for years. I found pyrodex to be more corrosive than T7.

i use pyrodex pellets, 3, 50 grain . but i only shoot my gun 4 x a year. 3 x to be sure its sighted in, then clean it. next shot is when i kill my buck, then clean it and put in back of safe till next year.

If I shot more, it would be a problem. Fortunately, a half pound will last me a while. I just make sure I buy it when I find it once I'm below half a can. I'd rather pay 777 prices again, but I hate fighting the corrosion and having to foul my barrel before a hunt. I'll eventually bite the bullet and have a 45-70 converted to a smokeless ML.
