As far as health care insurance goes, why can’t the private sector have the same type of insurance as the federal government employees have? Why is it that a GS worker can transfer from state to state and change jobs but their insurance stays the same? When I traveled my insurance stayed the same no matter where ai went or what contractor I worked for 😁

Why is it that a GS worker can transfer from state to state and change jobs but their insurance stays the same? If your employer is self insured and controls the healthcare, you would probably have the same plan if you move to another state. The Fed is self insured and just makes sure the policy adheres to every state's insurance laws or, since it is the fed, they may be exempt. i do not know. That is the issue with insurance due to that pesky 10th amendment and states rights. Each state has the right to regulate insurance within their state. For private insurance it is easier to have different policies for each state that has been approved by that state. You could petition congress to change the law, wait a few years for the states to sue and challenge to constitutionality of such a law, hope SCOTUS is willing to violate state's rights on that issue, and then we could have one universal plan for all over the country. The states do not want to give up that right and will fight it all the way.

How did Obamacare destroy healthcare? My plans were all bought on the ACA website. It was as good or better insurance than I had before ACA. Cost did not increase any more per year than it did before, around 15% a year due to getting older and inflation. How did Obamacare ruin the healthcare industry? The only thing it did was subsidize premiums for lower income people to make it more affordable for them. I never lose my doctor, but I didn't buy the cheapest plan either. Only reason anyone lost their doctor was choosing a cheap plan their doctor did not accept. I had that happen once when a employer went to a cheap HMO to save money. You know that most of my opinions are based on how stuff affects me. I didn't like Trumps tax thing cause i always got tax returns until he changed the tax laws and even at max withholdings I had to pay. So that tax plan was flawed imo. The whole Obamacare thing was where Pelosi said, lets vote for this thing so we can read it. That was the first "oh, shit" of it. Then we find out that folks who make more pay more and folks who make less pay less. Problem was that po folk already had Medicare paying for them. So what really happened? We don't know, far as I know, no-one read the damn thing. My insurance costs and deductibles went up, and "nothing changed" except now the govt has healthcare portals and people are saying that they pay $5/month for health care while my health care is about $600/month. My deductible went from $500 to $3,500. It was higher but we changed insurance plans at work. If I add my wife, my cost and deductible goes up. Deductible goes to $7,000 and cost is another $600/month. Pretty much why she's working - costs $10K to have her on my insurance. I did lose my doctor - one of the few I would go to. Company changed providers and he wasn't on the new approved list. You might say that's not Obamacare's fault, but the change was due to Obamacare. So cause & effect. If you don't submit proof of insurance to fed govt at tax time, you get fined. So I see folks getting stuff for nothing that I have to pay for. And my costs going up. And the govt mandating stuff. That was your company cutting costs and had nothing to do with the ACA. You lost your doc and had your deductible increase because your company went to a cheaper plan. I bet it would have happened due to rising costs without the ACA. When I worked for other companies, the plans would change every few years as companies look to cut costs. Last company, part of my job was to review the healthcare options every year and we changed policies every two or three years to cut costs. Prices would go up 15% a year on average. On a $100,000 policy to cover all the employees, that is another $15,000 in expenses every year. The $3500 to $7000 deductible is you confusing the individual deductible with the family deductible, you and your wife still have a $3500 individual deductible, but the family's total deductible is $7000. The mandatory requirement has already been overturned. You are not required to have health insurance. There is no fine for not having insurance.

Sigh* . As much as we do spend on healthcare in this country we are dead last in developed nations for healthcare. . Is that why up to 1/4 million a year come to our country for serious healthcare tx and issues? Cancers. Heart issues. Etc because they are unhappy and or can’t get the necessary tx in their country. I work with a global team in nations across the globe, let me tell you what they think about their healthcare. Waits for non-emergent tx and procedures take awhile. Most of them feel ok about what they do recieve but as my one friend in Bratislava says “we don’t know any better”. I can’t imagine how we can be dead last. It must be a perception thing or the cost thing

It is always easy to say we should all get something for free... because no one ever bothers to understand the impact of getting something for free. If you want free health care, then you will ruin healthcare. ObamaCare has done huge damage to healthcare, just think how bad if government was in full control.
Are we really dead last in healthcare? If you think there is waste or scams now, I cant wait for the the scams and waste that will come with the government running it. Show me one single thing the government does that is cheaper than the free market? What needs to happen is remove government from health care as much as possible and allow the free market to lower the cost.
Bullshit...total and utter. Thanks for sharing your opinion……. it’s pretty useless though, unless you care to back it up by providing some examples that support it?

# 1 cause of bankruptcy in America is medical debt. Thanks. Let’s sign them up for a loan! We’ll use your money, because you just know they will pay you back and then some!🙄

In 1991, my daughters birth cost $1800. I did not have maternity insurance and had to pay cash. It was $900 for the doctor and $900 for the hospital. The Dr's fee included all prebirth visits to his office. The more government sticks its nose into the medical industry, the higher and higher the costs go. ObamaCare destroyed the industry... and it is getting worse and worse because of it. Medicare is a really stupid example to hold out. It is the same as SSI, a huge pyramid scheme that cant stand on the premiums of the participants, so expanding it will only make it worse. Medicare hasnt lowered the cost, it has merely shifted the cost to those that pay their way thru the system. I just cant believe the people still think the government can do something cheaper than the free market. I guess that is why they have dumbed down education, so they can lie and everyone believes it. How did Obamacare destroy healthcare? My plans were all bought on the ACA website. It was as good or better insurance than I had before ACA. Only reason anyone lost their doctor was choosing a cheap plan their doctor did not accept. I had that happen once when a employer went to a cheap HMO to save money. That’s not the only thing it did. It also made some doctors decide to stop providing medical care. Ask me how I know. Lost the best doctor I’ve ever had, when the ACA became law. Haven’t found another as good as him since. #NotWinning

The mandate still exists, there is just no federal penalty anymore. About 5 hard core blue states have their own penalty for not having health Insurance. I am assuming they get that information from the 1040.

The mandate is still there, but the penalty is zero. There is no penalty for not having insurance at the federal level. Congress eliminated the penalty in 2017. The mandate was shot down by several district courts, but SCOTUS overruled them and said since there was no penalty, no plaintiffs had any standing to challenge it. I got the cases and congress's actions confused. i thought the whole thing went away when it was just the penalty that was eliminated.
