Took lil momma fishing in the afternoon - 1 king, 1 remora, 1 big lane snapper (18-19 inches). Lost 1 king and missed 2 somehow (going back to buggy whip rods). Water temp was about 82.

Whopper Lane!!! Other than deep jigging my favorite grouper bait is a lane,(any size) even over a beeliner. How far out you going in that little aluminum hull? We have a good 15 mile run straight out of Canaveral before you any get reef stuff. A couple closer in junk piles here don't hold much usually.

Will make the run to 8A and try to box a king or two and then do the next leg of the journey, out to 20 +/- miles and start fishing back toward the dock. I can't race anyone or anything, about 15 mph running speed once the wind starts. The ride in is often miserably long.
Chose the aluminum cause it is light and easy to maneuver, knew I was sacrificing speed and seaworthy-ness but it costs me about 10-gallons of gas to do a 60-80-mile run the 6-8 times I get to go per year (weather).
