My wife volunteered me to do a seafood boil for about 50 people. I'm planning on using large shrimp, cherry stone clams, mussels, corn, new potatoes, and Andouille sausage My question is, How much of each of the above ingredients do I need for the 50 people, Second question: I know potatoes will need to go in first, but in what order and for how long do I add the remaining ingredients

PP - I always calculate how much it takes for just me of the ingredients and milt for the number of eaters. Some eat more and some less. We also provide appetizers (dips/crackers) to take the edge off the big “consumers”. I think a lot more sausage, shrimp, muscles go along way to making it memorable. Potatoes and corn are fillers in my book. Let us know how it goes.

Well the seafood boil was held yesterday and was a hit. 47 people showed up. I had a pool patio filled, Family room filled with people watching football, and I put up a 10 x 20 tent and rented 3 8' tables and 30 chairs. Had 3 cookers going at once. 20# of potatoes, 12# of kielbasa, corn on the cob, 18# of shrimp and 10# of mussels with a generous dose of Old Bay after I dropped each ingredient. Shrimp and mussels went in together and figured they were done when all the mussels opened. I have to say that it was too much, lots of leftovers. Next time I'll only use 10# of potatoes, 10 # of kielbasa and about 1/2 the corn that I used

Great times with great food. You can also toss a few King Crab claws in at the same time as the shrimp and mussels. Thanks for sharing.

Others have suggested the crab legs as well as clams, but I was working with a budget and came in at only $20.00 over. I figure not bad for what I had.
