Got a couple pictures of a small bachelor group in velvet the other day. Found this spot a few years ago and over the years have never seen a single truck parked near it. Decided to toss a cam up at the end of Turkey season and I've had nothing but action since. For once I'm actually looking forward to hunting the romp and stomp. Peak rut here is between Dec 25th and Jan 10th. Fawns should be dropping right now there too using the 200 day rule.  |

I've gotten pictures of a bunch of them in velvet up here in NorthEast Florida; including one real good one that is already a large 8 pt! I love watching them grow throughout the summer months!

The deer in the swamp sure are hunter wise. It takes work to get a good one in there.
Protect that spot you found, tell no one where it. I wouldn't even park close to it.
I saw a stud in there mid April, he had hard horns. He was is a spot nobody hunts, they all drive by because there is no place to park.

Correction. That's the same buck above. Buddy harvested a 10 and a 12 non-typical. I thought I had pictures of the 10ptr but I can't seem to find the other buck in my photos.

Florida are smarter and harder to hunt, especially with all the yanks stomping all over the woods these days. you aint kidding i harvested deer in 6 maybe 7 states been on leases in sc and georgia a mature florida public land buck is without a doubt the most challenging. also if you shave the hair off a german shephard you have a large raccoon maybe a key deer doe. |

Had a guy tell me our deer are like a big rabbit compared to his in Ohio. I told him after he drags/totes our deer around a cypress head and across the flat woods, he will be wishing it was a rabbit.
He did a little backpedaling…
