The talk include shutting bottom fishing 90-200 ft from stuart northward.
Anyone got any idea what they are up to?
It isnt about managing ARS anymore. Might never have been.

First off, let it be known that I am a recreational fisherman. We are very quick to blame everything on the commercial fisherman, but in this case I don't believe that they are the problem. They are only allowed 75 lbs of ARS per trip, hardily worth targeting for them. Now on the Gulf it is a different story, they are allowed thousands of pounds through IFQ's and it seems the rec anglers are getting the short end of the stick. JMHO

Im not so sure it is commercial guys right now.
That the govt is talking about basically cancelling fishing off fl coast is pretty messed up.
They screw up everything they touch

I'm not anti commercial fishing at all.
I just think it's wrong for commercial fishermen to be able to go take fish when we are not.
Yea, yea, yea.....they are feeding the masses, etc. etc. give me a break.
NMFS and NOAA screw up everything they touch.

Absolutely no beef with commercial guys, most of em are 2nd and 3rd generation making a living. My beef is with morons that make the regulations. Sharks, goliath grouper, red snapper, gag grouper,tilefish etc.. they claim all severely overfished.
BULLSHIT! get out and see how wrong you are.

How many fish or how many pounds of grouper does a 200# Goliath grouper eat every week?
They need to open up a season on these grouper vacuums.

We only caught 1 kingfish last year, mighta had a second on but not like normal where we’d get 1-2-3-4 a trip. Glad i never invested in an offshore boat, just one that can go sometimes. |

I'm in NE FL and kingfish are beyond plentiful, i went the other day and got the first of the season and water temps are still under 70*. last year from the pier they had days where they caught 20+ kings |

I fish out of ponce, typically troll the public numbers for kings. Will slow troll herring or mullet and regular troll spoons and liped plugs.

Will slow troll herring or mullet and regular troll spoons and liped plugs. should be plenty out there, i fish out of a 18ft hewes flats boat but go 20ish miles do a lot of kingfishing. slow troll pogies/ribbonfish or frozen cigar minnows whenever cant find live pogies. |

I fish out of a lund ssv18 w 60 hp, typically inside 13 +\- miles.
Will net mullet at ramp, get livies if see em on way out.
