Does anyone have the number for the Complaint Department? Mark and I were on the water at 7 a.m. to meet the bait boat for five dozen USDA Prime Snook Pilchards. Loaded the baitwell and headed towards the inlet stopping at the Hole in the Wall, which was a ghost town other than the no-see-ums. Tried outside the Hole in the Wall without success. Then to the inlet where three boats were in each of my proposed spots. We then retreated to the North Beach without a bite, although the sights on the beach made it worthwhile. On the way in we stopped at the now vacant detached jetty, where the baits didn’t even get spooked, they swam without fear. I was starting to panic, holding $125.00 in live bait without a bite. Next was Sailfish Point where we saw strolling Snook, although they swam right around our baits. We went to a favorite dock and literally every cast was a blow up, eat, or drag screamer. We each landed 4 Snook, pulled the hook on a few dozen, and I had 3 drag screamers that I couldn’t stop, although I wasn’t using the big guns. Mark had my rods spooled with 55 lb. braid and I was using 20 lb. braid. Don’t bring a knife to a gunfight! I’m going to complain as some of the Snook Pilchards I purchased, were actually Redfish Pilchards. Shocking that I pulled 2 Redfish off the same dock, 18 ¾ and 22 inches, I guess I’ll have to complain the Pilchards were mixed. Sadly, we caught about a dozen Catfish on live Pilchards but they were huge Catfish, some weighing in excess of 6 lbs. Storms were moving in and we ran out of bait, calling it a day at 1:30. Yes, it was scorching hot and even worse when you arrive at the dock and begin cleaning up. Great day with Mark putting 8 Snook in the boat and 2 Redfish(out of season).

$125 for bait.....Oh, Gloom despair agony on me, deep dark depression excessive misery.... Nice fish I agree although it is easier for me to buy it than catch it. The fuel to run out in the ocean to look for it, the time it takes to locate it and catch it causes me to miss the best tides for catching. Normally, I can get the job done with 6 dozen shrimp, $21.02, although this time of year (late June, July, and August) shrimp are in short supply or ridiculously small, so I resort to "white baits" (pilchard, greenie, scaled sardines). It's just my system.

Money well spent. I might would mention the catfish pilchards need to be cheaper than the snook and redfish pilchards…
