BUT, we need a meeting to figure all this out right.... waste of time, such political kindness, sugar coating, yet all along one of FLORIDA"s greatest resources is being deliberately mis managed... 1 acre of eel grass left, one acre! When I was a kid you couldn't stand eel grass because it snagged your hooks so bad.
And, what really pissed me off, and I've seen it done time n time again, which is rude as shit, and I don't care if you're in a military outfit, you stick around for the public comments and don't get up and leave the room. Those ACOE suits have notoriously left the room when they don't want to be the subject of criticism.

Too little, too late. If they do not find a way to reduce the level of Lake Okeechobee now, not in ten years, the damage will be irreversible. To reduce the level from 16 to 15 1/2 is a joke. As Scott Martin said, the lake needs to be drained, otherwise submerged vegetation, will never return. Spawning fish have only a few areas to find clean water, which congregates the breeding stock, and puts even more pressure on the fish to reproduce. Even though there has been some progress of late, it is only a fraction of what needs to be done. The water managers and politicians need to quit bowing to the powers that don’t really care about the long term viability of Lake Okeechobee, and initiate some real change, not these long term band-aids that are not addressing the present crisis that deserves more attention NOW!!!

Personally, its rigged......... they are building lots of new Reservoirs and purchasing up more lands to be flooded. These projects fail if a water tower (aka lake okeechobee) cant feed them the water. Therefore, they are willing to sacrifice Okeechobee in the process.

need more restrictions on the fishermen,, maybe no fishing during spawning season, barbless hooks could help, wait i got it,,, no gasoline engines, all these agencies do is make excuses and pass the buck. fwc has people who dont hunt making decisions on hunting regs, same goes for fishing. sfwmd is no different.

Conservation Area 1 named in honor of Arthur Marshall. I knew Art personally.Florida Wildlife Federation/John and Marianna Jones era (Holey Lands and Rotenberger establshed, et al) and beyond. Today- 2024,likely, we could not rename a significant portion of Everglades in honor of Art, the Father of Everglades Restoration; Natural Systems recognition (In the best interests of the natural System and human population); convert former Glades lands currently in Ag to restored SHEET FLOW; the " Marshall Plan". Instead, we have more of the same......more Compartmentalization, dikes, reservoirs and a Lake O "water tower". Governor Bush cast the Marshall Plan off as "Political",and the Governor Crist administration attempts at Marshall Plan largely unreported. And a former Christ administration person went on to lodge at a Glades Organization with a single Billionaire backer... Everglades Foundation will eventually has some explaining to do.....and others too.....( what's up with the former Foundation scientist that left the Foundation? ?, Mr. Wickstrohm Florida Sportsman / Friends Of Everglades WHERE ARE YOU??) ,when the Governor shows up in a sugar cane field...nobody on the "Press" or elsewhere notes that the cane fields are former Glades .....

add ACOE to the list of clueless agencies They built the dikes right? They also screwed up the Mississippi and the Kissimmee and I dare say almost every project they have completed has been an environmental nightmare.
