Went out Boca this morning looking for Mahi. Ran all the way out to 2500 ft looking for any defined weed lines. Nothing but scattered weed. Decided to stop at a patch in 2500 and put a teaser out and a Islamorado lure that looks like a flying fish . 30 seconds later I have to mahi on about 30 in. I was solo so only managed to get 1 in the boat. Trolled back in for about a hour to see if I could find something else but no luck. Only saw about 10 birds and not really too many flying fish either.

Went out of Hillsboro. We ran to 1000ft and only saw tiny scattered weeds. we trolled to 22 miles out.
I didn’t see a single patch. I saw plenty of signs of life. I even saw a 8 foot shark of some kind that was completely unbothered by me passing him.
But we didn’t get a single knock down.
When I saw the afternoon storms gathering onshore, we ran in. I didn’t see anything until some crappy weeds at the third reef.
Out of 4 trips in the past week, I’ve only seen weed patches once. The other three days were like a desert.
OH - we got completely fooled by a group of boats in the morning. I saw them and assumed people found weeds. As we got closer, there were more and more. I thought there was something glorious to fish on.
Nope. It was a floatilla of boats that were each leading 1 or 2 paddle boarders towards shore. This had to be twenty miles out. That was frustrating
