Found some old pics on a cd while cleaning up the garage yesterday. I was 14 or 15 in this picture. Killed her in California Swamp Hunting Club in Dixie County, FL. There weren't a lot of people that bow hunted back then in general. Most of the club gun/dog hunted and only a handful of us that did bow hunt had the woods to ourselves.

Awesome picture, thanks for posting. What year and what kind of bow did you use? Sitting in a tree I imagine.

It was 16 foot tall and I had a platform that I could stand on. You had to open it up and climb through and fold the platform down. The bow was a Bear Whitetail 2

Bare-footing? Good times I’d say. Looks like your club was saving the jaw bones even back then. Love the old hunting and fishing pics.

This was the first year they started collecting them as well as issuing doe tags. We couldn't harvest does in archery even though they were legal to take by state regs. I loved archery season because that's when the rut was in Dixie county.

Yeap more people and less available land. My first paid lease was less than $300 in the early 90's. I know before that most places were free to hunt. It's all about the money now. Hunting leases bring additional income. The good ol days are long gone.
