According to the article to make it sellable in the U.S. would make it cost $25,000 or so. 25% import fee plus the addition of required equipment. And besides, a big reason we don’t already get these cheap foreign-market trucks is because importing them from North America comes with the 25 percent “Chicken Tax” tariff. Add in the cost of stability control, lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking included in the Toyota Safety Sense suite that is nearly standard across the U.S. lineup and it’s easy to see the price ballooning into Ford Maverick territory. So 25% of ten thousand.....plus 10,000$ is 25,000$?
Thanks Cliff!

Thanks Cliff! If you could only read. But that is too much to expect. The article includes the safety equipment listed and says what the price would be. I was just quoting the article in the OP Mindy, don't get your panties in a wad. Take a Midol and calm down.

The reason the pickup truck market has gone to hell is mainly government mandates. Crash worthiness, emissions and mileage requirements. Not to mention the fact that sales are directed to people who never use a truck for work, only to cruise city streets. When vent windows, bench seats, vinyl flooring and eight foot beds were eliminated, the writing was on the wall.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. Limited to around town or off the interstate system... these would be great vehicles.

But some think it’s a deal with that six years loan at 8.5 percent!🫣

Yep, soccer moms need diesels to haul the kids to practice 🙄 When I bought my F250 my friends kept sending me links to King Ranch and platinum with 6' beds. They just ainpky could not understand why I "had to have" an 8' bed. I said some of us actually use our trucks to haul more than kids and groceries. I do t have a lot to haul anymore but my SIL borrows it constantly to get lumber. He's like oh I see now why you like an 8' bed

Well no shit... I have that "truck" in F150, except in extra cab and manual transmission, wind up windows, 8'ft bed. 2005. Paid $5000 for it in 2015 with 40,000miles. That one is a ripoff at $10000.
I wouldnt trust something with that low of miles and that old. That engine will be burning oil pretty soon. Low miles, that old, means corrosion in the engine.
