I'd be interested in it. That's less than some golf carts or side by sides go for. Or a Mahindra roxor.. I'd even be interested in some, not all configurations even if not street legal I like these configurations as well as basic. The Xtra cab looks very interesting.

Yes. I. Read. That.
Hence my comment about not street legal. That would bypass vehicle saftey standards, but probally not emissions. I'd use it like a side by side.. mule, gator, bobcat, teryx etc.. the kei vehicles (660 cc) not street legal here, unless the ones from the 90's.. But used on golf courses, estates, and parks..

I've said for years that our trucks are just simple too overbuilt and have to much bullshit. We (the average Joe truxk buyer) do t need luxoliners with premium leather seats, satellite radio and coms. And all the other trinkets and shit they try and force you to buy. Just a rugged truck with a damn reliable driveline.

That puts you back pre 2000, probally 90's or earlier, models without all the bs..and computer and modules just hei ignition at most.. But I think there is a place for a little bigger than side by side, little smaller than compact truck vehicle non street legal, minimum emissions.. Let it fit in the atv offroad golf cart construction vehicle, maintenance vehicle fleet world.
Sell them in industrial applications beside the Toyota forklifts.

I had a 94 K2500 GMC Suburban rubber floors and bench seats (I later swapped out the vinyl for leather seats out of a Silverado) My first Excursion. Was an XLT with rubber floors and clth seats The 2nd Excursion is and XL(S) with rubber floors and vinyl seats which is greats when you have asshole kids like mine. Although My ass prefers the cloth seats. When I bought my F250 I looked and looked for an XLT with rubber floors but couldn't find one so I have carpet. Which said asshole kids have about destroyed. About the only "luxury" Im interested in at this point is power windows and AC. I can put my own (better) radio in it myself.

Rubber floors, vinyl seats, plastic interior, hose the mutha out.. Had them from 73,78,79,99 hosers.. Had carpet and cloth non hosers.. Had carpet and leather as well. Non hosers..
For a work rig, I'll take a hoser with a/c and power steering. Roll up windows are OK.

I looked at some of these before, and the ones that can be titled for road would have to be 25 yrs or older, otherwise they would fall under atv type rules. There is a importer that brings these older ones in that has 2 east coast locations and a west coast one. Most are 660 cc gas, but I did see a 1 ton long bed 4x4 Toyota 2200 cc diesel. Some are dump beds, I saw a jeep, refrigerated box truck, some vans, and one with a lift gate setup for wheelchair. Suzuki, Honda, subaru, dihatsu, and a few toyotas. Most don't have ac, but 1 did, some have locking hubs, locking axles, most are 5 speeds a few 4 speeds, and saw a automatic The trucks are single cab configuration. Quite a few offerings in the 8k$ range. Accessories are tires of diffrent styles and treads front rear hitches, snowplow, etc.
Of the newer imports I haven't seen the Kei size with exception of Mahindra roxor, which is 4x4 jeep style. I have seen it in diesel. But off road titled only.
That brings the view back to 90's American iron..

I think you could sell a lot of those in this country right now if you marketed it correctly. If it did take off, it would make sense for a lot of people as long as there aren't any huge safety issues.
They already have the parts network in place......needs a turbo, off road option, with a camper.

According to the article to make it sellable in the U.S. would make it cost $25,000 or so. 25% import fee plus the addition of required equipment.
And besides, a big reason we don’t already get these cheap foreign-market trucks is because importing them from North America comes with the 25 percent “Chicken Tax” tariff. Add in the cost of stability control, lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking included in the Toyota Safety Sense suite that is nearly standard across the U.S. lineup and it’s easy to see the price ballooning into Ford Maverick territory.

A lot of that stuff is not "required". Emissions and safety equipment are the biggest hurdles but by no means is dome of that listed. Americans are spoiled and they don't want to sell a truck they can only make 2k off of when they can sell trucks they can make 40-60k off of.
