I've been missing some outdoor related posts, and this time of year I work a reload or 2 up..
So, that said
5.56x45 or 223 match round (1:8 twist or faster) Lake city brass, cci magnum small primer, 24 gr +/- varget, 77 gr Sierra match king loaded to 2.26" or mag length less about 5 thousandths.
2650 +/- fps out of a 20" barrel, accuracy on par with federal gold medal match.
As always, start a bit lower and work your loads up watching for pressure signs.

I have a 6mm rem that likes almost full listed charge of 4064 under a 87 gr v max.
Eventually I'll get back to lighter weight 22, as want to see what a 222 and a 22tcm like the best. They have slower twists.
Id also like to play a bit with 6mm (mongoose) in the following weights. 55, 87,105

6 rem was going down the rabbit hole, I learned alot. It was dad's varmint rifle he had it built in the 60's so fn mouser action, timney trigger, heavy walnut stock with wide fore arm to ride bags well, and a Douglas heavy varmint barrel that looked like a truck axle, tight chambered, and about a 1:10 twist. So after getting brass that wasn't questionable, I loaded up some 87 vmaxes over 4064.. Ladder tested and even the lightest ones had hard extraction, the primers looked good, It loosened up a bit but still less than max loads I was surprised to see 4000 fps on chrono.. So I had barrel setback and rechambered, that cleaned it up.. About 1/2 moa and 3300 fps or so with those 87's.. so..I wrote it in the book and called it good.. But, if I didn't have dad's varmint rig, I'd rather have gone 243 AI..so much easier to get brass. Then I got a wild hair about a 6 mongoose.. I told the wife I already have brass and projectiles, it's really just a set of dies.. I still haven't found out what it really likes..in either bolt or semi auto ill get there.. 1:8 twist..
