The Double mint Gum commercial was “Double your pleasure, double your fun” and that’s pretty much how our day of fishing went with double hook ups and plenty of fun.
Steve and I left the dock at 9 with seven dozen shrimp to the South Fork of the St. Lucie River. It didn’t take long and our first stop Steve put a Snook in the boat. Shortly thereafter, I was on with a nice Snook. The morning continued with each of us catching Snook including a double header. Mixed in with the Snook was a huge Black Drum that Steve landed weighing in at 12 lbs. The South Fork slowed and we headed North to the North Fork where we found Black Drum and plenty of them. It was literally non-stop action on Black Drum in the 5 to 6 lb. range, including double headers and we even mixed 3 Snook in with them. I had to take a break as my shoulder was throbbing but Steve kept the action busy with the drums a beating!!!
Sadly, by 3:30 we ran out of shrimp and I ran out of “shoulder”. It’s great hearing at the end of the day from someone that fishes frequently, that he has never landed that many quality fish in one day. What an honor!
Final Tally: 8 Snook(4 Steve/4 Keith), 17 Black Drum (approx.11 Steve/6 Keith), 3 Catfish(All Steve, LOL), bunches of Snapper
