I got lucky. The granddaughter wanted to go " I want to go shoot a mottled duck grampa "  The first drake was lucky...but luck ran out for this drake. |

Ya know, a takeaway I get from this......having hunted Lake O since the late 70's, back then we would say it was a "bad" hunt if we didnt shoot a limit in an hour there. I see this post about a youngster that just wants to bag a certain species. It gives me a bit of hope for the future.

Well, this is not a first for her. She has done the organized youth hunts before and killed both black bellied tree ducks and ringnecks.
She does not enjoy the fast action of other ducks...she likes the more controlled pace of bringing a mottled to the decoys. She did this last year in the after season youth hunt in February and was succesful.
I think her favorite hunting is deer and turkey since that is also slow paced.

TM Goodwin has a great one and Duckman or the office there can give you info. There are other Youth Duck hunts around the state including West Palm Beach, Ocala and Jacksonville areas. I am around the Melbourne area. Thank you for the link pinman! One of my sons drew a youth turkey this year so that should be fun (three lakes prarie lakes).
