I think the second is what an old friend of mine referred to them as a “white fanged devil”. It’s a coiled Rattlesnake.

Yes, prairie rattler. Those things are pure slithering attitude. I cant hear the rattles but buddy said he could hear it just fine.
We went for antelope and managed 3 of those w some freshwater trout (dinks) and a bunch of sight seeing.
The mammoth site is pretty impressive. Supposedly it was a sinkhole about 200,000 yrs ago and critters fell in, drowned.,,

We shot the antelopes bewteen 250 and 400 yds.
That is the one i shot.

Very nice Rich. Antelope is the only bucket list animal I have left.
I want to take my son out there to do that hunt before he is growed up and out of the house.

If none, start next year. Guided hunt was about $3200 (what it was costing me to hunt a season on a lease in GA). Last bucket list animal for me. I think there is an advantage in hunting private land, guide and 3 days to glass as many as you want and such. It is totally diff from hoping someone doesnt mess yer hunt. I did DIY and only had doe tags but got i to good spot and just sat. Saw 20-30 that trip. 200 or so this time. Guided will also get you hunting sooner. The opportunities out there are getting tougher to come by. We chased a gevin unit for 4 years and could not draw due to point creep. Gave up and went guided. |

Yeah the bs out west he has deterred me from hunting there. Even Midwest deer no longer interest me... or STA duck hunting... or any permitted hunting really...
I guess I better start the process soon for pronghorn if I'm gonna do it.

I may be moving to WY soon so...... More ducks there than in FL. Plenty of turkeys too. Just cold in the winter w 50 mph winds. |
