Taking the family (and boat) to Cudjoe next week. Hoping for calm seas so we can get out to deep water in our bay boat (Skeeter ZX22). The Keys forum has been pretty slow for awhile. Any intel would be welcome. I hear bait in the shallows is pretty scarce.

Quick follow-up for anybody making the trip down this summer. Weed lines are not nearly as thick as the doomsayers on the Weather Channel would have you believe. At least not out to 2000' off Cudjoe. There was no shortage of dolphin, although most were "short". We were able to run anywhere we wanted on a glassy flat ocean. Ended with a couple dozen dolphin in the 24'-30' range. ALL caught on diamond jigs using inshore tackle. It was a run-and-gun sort of trip, which, in a 22' Bay Boat is always fun! Did some deep jigging and came up empty, as in both my son and I hooked up multiple times only to get cut off by what were probably big cudas or sharks. After losing $30-$40 worth of vertical jigs we bailed on deep jigging. Not sure if that report helps anybody making the trip but thought I would share....
