If the issue is rutting up the woods/trails then it wouldn’t have to involve hunting. I have almost no experience with them other than seeing where a bike has been ridden.

Thank you Bullfrog. I knew they had a little more leeway, but I wasn't sure to what extent. I feel like it ultimately comes down to who you encounter and how they're feeling on that day. If the issue is rutting up the woods/trails then it wouldn’t have to involve hunting. I have almost no experience with them other than seeing where a bike has been ridden. What I was told back in 2020 when this started was that their decision was based upon safety and trail damage. Neither of those make any sense when comparing Class 1 and 2, and considering the damage that horses cause to trails. The throttle makes the bike safer and horses causes WAY more damage to trails.

Just more complex bullshit rule making. kinda like the no hunting license needed to hunt hogs on wmas during hog or small game seasons, nothing like being in the woods with people who have no experience at all, most dont speak english so you know they cant read the brochure and on some wmas walking around with ar,s or 30/06. im sure fwc polled all the legit hunters and asked them what they think about this rule. undocumented season they should name it. LOL=== BOHICA this state is so full of rules, boundaries, special regulations it stinks to high hell

I'm thinking based on past rule making, if enough people bitch about the ebike rules they will change them.

I qualified for a Alternative Mobility Permit for this year, last year I did not qualify. All due to rule change.

Just walk and be happy! I looked into the e-bike craze mainly for Turkey season. However, I started to think about some of the areas I hunt here in the pandhandle and how much easier it is to walk or come in by canoe. Just too many rules in this state anymore. i can remember it like it was yesterday, 10 th in line opening morning of turkey season at three lakes, first to the green pipe that blocks the trail head. parked truck and started the 45 minute walk out towards canoe creek road. 1/2 hour into the walk 2 guys on ebikes cruise by and 5 minutes later couple more. i knew 10 years ago these things where gonna be a issue. after being passed by or beaten to areas from allapatta to dinner island , big cypress to kicco i finally bought one and will continue to use it till all motorized bikes are not allowed. personally i think most people who use them are lazy and would never hunt 2 or 3 miles from there vehicle. you used to be able to get away from most other hunters with just a little bit of hard work / walking. not anymore

This is less an issue with bikes and more of an issue with be an inconsiderate a-hole. Personally, I don't go any further than I already did except for the rare cases where there just wouldn't be enough time due to the distance and when the gates opened. However, since it allows some to push further than they would normally go, it opens up areas closer to the truck. On one WMA I hunt that sees a LOT of ebikes I have a spot less than 100 yards from THE main road and it's covered in buck sign every year. This year I haven't used it much at all on my main WMA and just shot a 10pt 1/4 mile from the truck.

only thing my ebike has done for me is it made getting a deer or hog outa the woods 75% easier, the extreme south east corner of allapatta flats, mile or so past the end of road 5 at dinner island, 2 miles past the end of four sections road at ok slough, additions land, corbett, kicco . all places i could walk to in 90 minutes or less and almost never seen another hunter. today all these places are covered with trail cams and brand new climbers all by guys who use ebikes. you will never change my mind that ebikes made it easier for guys to hunt in areas that they would never dream of hunting if they had to walk or peddle. just my opinion i dont care one way or the other but if it was my choice all motorized bikes would be illegal.

I used an ebike while scouting and it allowed me to check 4-5 spots as opposed to just 1 if i had walked. A game changer for sure.
The main issue with ebikes involves someone getting close to them or beating em to a spot. Competition is getting tighter every year. I keep getting older.

Saw a large person riding an e-bike on the sidewalk next to the grocery store the other day. I couldn’t help but wonder why someone obviously needing a little exercise wouldn’t be walking. Same in the woods. Man was made to walk.

Same in the woods. Man was made to walk. so, when medical conditions make walking difficult then those folks need to stay home? Got it! I have always said that when the high and mighty still hunters (most DMTAG members) get dog hunting outlawed then I will become one very vocal anti hunter.

A-1 You’re correct. I forgot to say if medical or health conditions make enjoyment of a past time painful or impossible then yes get the permit to drive or use whatever is available to participate. However, there are a lot of folks that have just gotten lazy. BTW I don’t know where the outlawing of dog hunting came from. In truth, I’m a dog hunter and waiting on the opening. I have two WMAs I hunt with hounds. I still bow hunt, MZ hunt, stand hunt and run hounds. I also duck hunt a “tiny bit” and hunt small game when time allows.

If you gonna restrict technology then do it across the board, apps, cameras, inline muzzloaders, etc.
