Even the ones Louann feeds in front of the house are not excited about it. Whereas a couple of weeks ago there would be 7-8 most afternoons the last week or so.....3 max. And the cameras are catching fewer, it being the raccoons & crows cleaning up the corn.
Hundreds of swamp chestnut oaks dropping 1/2 ounce packets of goodness has everything moved.
Though......did have 5 bears on the camera at one time night before last.

Same here, wife's yard deer have slowed down on the corn she puts out in the evenings. Did see a new hen and 9 half grown poults last night. Can't blame them for eating white oak acorns though. Last week watched a doe and the cows under the same tree.

YUP...The Big Shift is starting. Acorns are falling good. My buddy has 3 feeders out he runs all year. Says the deer are coming once or twice a week now from every day last month.

Acorns are a key nutritional food that they gravitate to for this time of year. The crop is relatively short lived so they take advantage of it. I’ve watched deer feeding on acorns look up when a feeder goes off and then go right back to chomping acorns.
