Great to see the FWCC Osceola National Forest Hunt Map Legend differs quite a bit from last year's map.....
A sizeable new swath of ONF Public Land East of US 441,adjacent to the previously existing ONF Northwestern boundary, between Sandlin Bay to the North and Pinhook to the Northeast. Needmore Road/Sandhill Grade Road crosses through the middle of the new addition lands.
The Conservation Fund has worked for years to conserve critical lands around Osceola National Forest. In 2023,in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service the roughly 14,000 acres known as the Suwannee River Woodlands is now in USFS ownership. The effort builds upon the successful protection of roughly 9,800 adjacent acres that were transferred from the Fund to USFS in 2018.

First place in Florida I ever hunted. That was back in 1967 while in the Navy on a ship stationed in Mayport. The area seemed vast then. Good to hear the NF is expanding rather than being developed. Thanks for the info. Great post.
Just looked at the new map. Big chunk of private land in there also. Paper company? Went back a few years ago during the muzzleloader season. May want to dig out the tent and try that again.

Awesome! Every piece of additional land we can have to hunt on is great!
