I am semi retired. As a hobby I have been building pier gaffs for years when I feel up to it. For the prongs or points I use the type of stainless (17-4) that spear gun shafts are built from. A heavy stainless center shaft and a stainless tube filled with lead. Most are 5 prong and some weights differ. Easily carried in a bucket with rope. Heavy enough to fight wind blow. I’m guessing you have the ability and equipment to bend and weld stainless?
I’m looking to have a couple gambrels fabricated. One for deer, One smaller for hogs.
