Another day on the water with super high tides and very dirty water. It was off at 9 with Paul and Tom to the end of the outgoing tide and beginning of the incoming tide, so we headed South to Hell’s Gate where Tom lead off with a “Whiskered Snook” aka Catfish. Tom was very consistent today with Catfish, he affectionately named them “Whiskered Snook”! Paul got on the board with a nice Snook and Tom followed his lead with a Tarpon Snook. There are five species of Snook: Common, Swordspine, Tarpon, Small Scale Fat, and Large Scale Fat. The hybrid species usually aren’t over 24 inches, whereas Common and Swordspine can grow to 50 inches or more but not today! The Snook bite was slow but we picked away at them on multiple docks and Paul also put a Black Drum on the board. It was a gorgeous day, although had to come to an end early, 2:00 for Paul to get to the airport for his flight home. It was great having Paul and Tom on the Aquaholic V, all three of us worked together in Pines. Final Tally: 6 Snook (Paul 4/Tom 2), 1 Black Drum (Paul), too many Snappers and Catfish to count.
