Went chasing dolphin with a west wind. I know better but tried anyway. Found weed in 850 and fished it for an hour with nothing. Ran SE all the way out to 25 miles and found some birds and scattered weeds. Hooked a double but only landed 1 26 inch fish. Ran back west and found a decent line in 800 off haulover and fished it north back to PE and only caught 1 tiny 12 fish. Called it at 2 to avoid all the storms.

Went out of Hillsboro inlet around 8.
Ran east looking for weeds. There were scattered weeds at times, but no clumps. Finally dropped lines at 850 and trolled out to 1200 then back in. Didn’t want to go further because winds were picking up and and the wife hates bumpy rides home.
We really saw very few signs of life. Any small weed clumps I saw had no life under them. Flying fish were scattered, at best. And I didn’t see a single bird feeding, nor any frigates until we got near shore after noon. They were watching a boat chumming on the third reef.
Granted, I only come down south for 4-8 weeks in summer, but this is the first trip I have had out of the keys or pompano since 2021 where we didn’t even get a hit. Brutal - but I was still on the water 😀
