Not sure if this weas posted yet and I missed it, but this came across one of mu news feeds: A recent pilot study conducted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration revealed the agency’s own data has inflated much of the country’s recreational saltwater fishing catch by 30 to 40 percent. This is the third time in 13 years that serious issues have been uncovered in NOAA’s recreational fishery data program, according to a new report from the Center for Sportfishing Policy. www.outdoorlife.com/conservation/noaa-overestimates-recreational-catch-data/#:~:text=NOAA%20Says%20It%20Has%20Been,by%2030%20to%2040%20Percent&text=A%20recent%20pilot%20study%20conducted,by%2030%20to%2040%20percent.

Due to.......among other things, the difficulty of capturing it...........
What bubbles to the surface in my mind as the first question is: How much of the rest of what NOAA is reporting is wrong.
And of more consequence......how many mistakes in management have been made due to incorrect numbers?
We've no way to know.......

Oh no say it isn't so. I can only imagine who ultimately calls the shots on this shit. Probably spends his whole day trying to figure out why he sucks so bad at golf.

But look at the stellar results. American Red Snapper everywhere. Goliath grouper everywhere and dominating areas. They are really on their game (sarcasm)

Those are exactly the results I would expect from "bought and paid for" scientists!

Fisheries management and assessment, biomass. A recreational fisherman can NOT hurt an individual species. The species that are targeted the most is the species that get regulated. To make A long story short. Anyone can catch a fish. When there’s one to many cases of fish related illnesses in the hospital that’s when they take action on the regulations for that particular species. I NEVER keep fish from shore. All of my eating fish are caught from head boats that sail anywhere from 18 hour, extended day trips to the 20 mile wrecks. If I have the time and money I don’t like planning anything less than 3 days and at the most 5 days. Now I have a variety of fish for the next six months, I don’t hunt. I don’t own any firearms. (FACT!!)
