If you haven't seen some of the YouTube videos from Jupiter Inlet they are classic. Wrong tides with an opposing wind makes that inlet almost suicidal if in a smaller boat. Slack tides with light winds they're all a piece of cake. At one time or another my 16 foot Carolina Skiff has run them all from Fort Pierce to Palm Beach. You do have to pick your battles on the east coast. Have a friend in Port St Lucie and tow over there every once in a while.

I took a 17 cc out of Juipiter one morning with a 10-12 ft standing wave at the mouth of the inlet, took a left in the trough and into the much calmer water along the beach. As dumb as Ive ever done. It was flat calm in the way in.. |

Haven't looked lately but there once was a live web cam from Jupiter. Fun to watch. Good luck. What I like about the east coast that going out a mile gets you in deep water. Here in the Gulf a mile out gets you knee deep. Lol.

Jupiter Inlet webcam still active. When I looked two minutes ago you could run it in a 10 foot jonboat.
