guy i know put his stand up last week , 2 mile walk or bike ride. just a simple chain on stand 12 ft up in a pine, he hid the climbing sticks close by and put out 2 cell cameras. well saturday he got a bunch of pictures of some other hunter standing in front of camera with his arms up in the air and some with the guy holding his cell phone pointing to it. when i run into cameras or stands a week before my quota hunt im kinda glad i noticed them and move on to plan b,c or d cause come opening morning 1000 flashlights or guys whistling aint stopping me from climbing the tree my stands locked to. someone beats you to a spot and you know it,, cell cams, ribbons or a stand move on most times you,ll have better luck in your new spot. standing in front of camera like a little girl threatening to report it to fwc is such a sissie move, and you look like a fool on camera .

You got to admit, it would be funny, if it was illegal to have a stand up before the season and someone got wrote up after getting a heads-up from a fellow hunter.🤔 Just saying!

Yeah just because we follow the blame rules doesn’t mean our fellow hunters should👍 I’m at the point the other guy can do whatever he/she wants to. I just hunt my way, stay legal and enjoy the chase. I’ve also given up on reporting corn piles on WMAs. I’m having a hard enough time keeping myself legal and passing along the enjoyable aspects of the hunt to the young ones.

I've had pretty good luck turning in corn piles. I got to watch the GW make a guy climb down the tree and they hauled his ass off. He was a convicted felon and had a firearm.

Too many people worrying about the insignificant things others are doing.
It reminds me of the time someone stole a brand new ladder I put up at 3L about 20 years ago. There were stands all over that area and I found a great little trail coming out of a swamp that was a perfect archery set up.
I went back a week later to hunt and saw the 4 wheeler tracks (that was the only illegal act) going right to it. I knew it was gone before I even got to it. They must have been prepared because it would have taken some bolt cutters to get it.
I walked around and checked every stand within 300 yds and completely destroyed every single one. Left them in a twisted heap. Then I posted a notice at the check station that said, "may God help you if I find you in my stolen stand. I'm hunting for YOU now."
I ran into a fwc officer later that day and told him about it, and when he asked what I was going to do, I told him I was going to march the culprit back to the check station at gun point while he carried my stand. I thought the officer was going to shit a brick as he told me DON'T DO IT, DON'T DO IT! You'll end up in jail... I laughed as I drove away knowing I would likely never see my stand, or the thief again.
Yep, that's yet another true story in the life of OMG.
But, as William Munny said in Unforgiven, "I'm not that way anymore..."

heres the issue , theres 4 archery hunts so if you got 2nd 3rd or 4th you got tons of time to legally , funny ,, legally put up your tree stand. but if you have the 1st hunt your supposed to do it day before, yea thats always a good idea,, get all sweaty stinking up the area your gonna hunt next day. corn and other bait i understand, guys using 4 wheelers or side by sides when not allowed stuff like that i understand but someone putting there stand out a week early give me a break . maybe thats the only day he had that week, maybe he,s a old fart and could only get his son to carry it that day. would it be better for guys dragging game carts thru the woods opening day in the dark trying to set up stands in the dark, some wimpy azz men walking around our public lands these days. im gonna tattle on you,,, give me a break

Lol! This was off 60 entrance, out by Lake Kissimmee, Meat. You don't owe me a apology. This was about the time the ATVs were becoming a big pain in the ass out there. They were treating the place like as mud park.

Some people obviously have more time than others. I don't want to spend one day of my life explaining things to a GW and another day pleading with a judge. I would rather spend them two days hunting, IMHO.

Most WMAs you’re allowed to set your stand up one week before the hunt. Don’t know the area you’re referencing.

(rant button on) Wouldnt it be better if we just opened up all these Damn lands WE all own to anyone that has the proper license and within the open season to go out and hunt as we like instead of worrying about a stand being set up a week early or someone goes in 5 minutes before legal entry time? "Those that can will and those that can't, won't". I'd rather have the opportunity to go out and make my own luck than have some ivory tower bureaucrats dictate when WE can use OUR land. A pipe dream I know.....(rant button off)

Be careful what you wish for. Just had a buddy a week ago call and tell me he’s done hunting what used to be a favorite WMA. He didn’t renew his annual spring turkey camping permit. It’s a beautiful place truly letting all the people utilize the people’s land to the absolute limit. You can hunt (both still and dogs), ride your jeep on every road imaginable and mud it up to your heart and checkbooks content, ride your dirt bike, your ebike, your horse, you can hike, birdwatch, camp anywhere you want, race old beat up cars, dump your rival gang member’s body, and organize a motocross race on the opening of spring turkey. There are multiple entrances as well. It’s now a poster child for public land access open year around.

fwc gets a few complainers and use that as a excuse to screw the regular / local hunting public. it was only 7 or 8 guys who complained bout never getting picked for dinner island that got the ball rolling for non transferable quotas, couple complaints bout picayune strand being too crowded which is a total freaking joke theres 10x more land out there to hunt and never see another hunter, now its quota only, spring turkey at bear island. calling fwc to complain about other hunters or crowding will only get you more restrictions. go hunting, have a great time ,be respectful to fellow hunters but most of all mind your own business and dont be a girlyman.

" meateater"
if that stand was set up west of the turnpike by that little strip of private land that comes in of canoe creek road,    im sorry
I’d lose count if I tried to figure out how many stands were left out there year round. Not including the janky unsafe makeshift ones I assume are still being used. I do wish fwc would actually enforce it. It’s litter at this point. Including the collection of beer cans at the bottom of the stands.

But basically there are too many Quota hunts with too few days. Its hard to learn real woodsmanship with a 3 day hunt. Do away with Special Opportunity (another pipe dream, FWC not giving up that $$$), make a very few WMAs Quota scattered across the state, give 5 Deer tags per Deer Permit, 4 Turkey tags per Turkey Permit, and open up the peoples land to the people.....

You know it! They whined that they paid for a permit inside the dike while those outside in the Lagoon didnt and were shooting their ducks. They might have been too close to the dike but that could have been remedied with requiring distance from the dike. But the whole Indian River was shut down and more non-quota opportunity was lost which crowds the other non-quota areas. Its a predicable cycle that the restrictionists cant seem to understand.

No they can't understand. Fucking idiots restricted themselves, and the rest of us to the couch because they whined about their "quality experience".
