What am I doing wrong...? You're probably buying Mexican peaches. Best peaches I've ever had are Palisade peaches in Colorado

Some varieties stay crispy and drier than others. They have a better shelf life so stores carry them more.

I would guess that peaches are like oranges, the best eating ones are not worth a crap to ship.

Buy a tree and grow your own if you like peaches a lot. Plus the deer will probably come by and eat a bunch. win win! I hate store-bought peaches because they are picked green usually due to the short shelf life. I heard storing them in paper bags after purchase makes them better. I just quit buying them. I think my next purchase for the yard will be a peach tree in the spring.

Roadside stands in South Carolina are the best peaches in the southeast. Picked ripe and fresh from the fields. You can see them picking in the field from where you're buying.

Roadside stands are the best source of all produce.
I only wish they had peach stands near us.
Nothing is tastier than tree ripened peaches.
Mmmnnn 😋

Our Florida peaches have a shelf life of hours and not days. Pickem and eatem. When traveling we do hit the road side stands in the peach state and SC. If a peach is hard to the touch, it’s not even close to being ripe.

There's nothing better than eating a warm peach at a roadside stand, juice dripping off your chin and washing it down with a shot of good corn likker.

we used to buy three bushels of You-Pick-Em peaches and my mother would peel, pit, slice and then freeze them.
we ate those instead of popsicles during the long hot summers ...
she also made some fried pies from the ones she didn't freeze ... best ones I've ever had

I would guess that peaches are like oranges, the best eating ones are not worth a crap to ship. A lot of truth to that. Peaches are hard to ship unless you either pick them just before ripeness and gas them or pick them at ripeness but only ship overnight.

Best and largest peach I've ever ate came from Gaffney SC. Big as a naval orange use to be. If you remember those days,

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach? I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach. I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.
I do not think that they will sing to me.
I have seen them riding seaward on the waves Combing the white hair of the waves blown back When the wind blows the water white and black. We have lingered in the chambers of the sea By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown Till human voices wake us, and we drown.

YEA..That makes a lot of sense... You toking early Bro ? Probably sitting in the lanai looking out across the bay, sipping a Mai Tai and sniffing on a chunk of smoking Lebanese Blond stuck on a straight pin.

Not gonna lie I was looking forward to another story about a TRT trist with the local girl at the Jiffy store named Peaches, not a complaint about a damn fruit. I guess the Viking is all Viking’d out…
