I'm no money value expert, but I received change from the drive thru puke and he gave me 2 $2 bills as change.
Are they worth more than face value??? Haven't seen many circulating these days...

It would need to be old and in uncirculated condition. The government is still printing them, so the odds are the ones your got are worth $2.

Spend it. It's not going to worth anymore than it's worth now.

My brother goes by the bank on Friday buys a few $2 bills and sells them at the flea market for $3.50. He is a follower of P.T. Barnum.

I used a $50 bill that was printed in 1995. The young girl at the register thought it wasn’t real. The older manager saved the day. 😁

There was a Chicago mafia leader that had hundred dollar bills stuffed in the walls of his house. Trouble is I guess they were very very old and larger or very different than the current one.
Instead of being worth more because of age and rarity they were difficult to spend.
I thought that was hilarious

Haven't seen one in many years. I'm sorry to see silver dollars and half dollars go away. The Canadian system of Loonies works very well in many applications - shopping cart returns being my favorite. The Toonies, not so much.

Wouldn't put a lot of stock in any thing he says. He will be along in seconds to fight back......just wait

The Toonies, not so much. i think a lot of people try to collect them, thinking they are collectible. When we would see them at the store, it was usually someone with several of them. We took all of them to the bank and never gave them back out to customers because most people did not want them. The mint prints about $100 million a year. Kennedy half dollars are still minted and you can order them from the mint or get them at the bank.

Never understood why they got rid of the $500 bill, I hate paying people in $100's when buying something pretty expensive.

Next time you have that happen.... Keep the bill and pay another way... Then look for a rare bill dealer that is honest... there are some.... If it is not counterfeit it may be worth.

As much as I'll miss it, paper money is rapidly being displaced by digital currency.
Tracking is one goal but the fact is it's just easier to do.
I carry cash, pay with checks and use my CC but my kids are pretty much digital.

You stop printing and circulating a large denomination bill like $500 or the $1000 note. Issue a notice that banks will no longer accept them after a certain date as legal tender. A drug dealer has to try and cash them in or he has a bunch of bills worth nothing. That is what I read once about getting rid of bills over $100. A large amount was in the hands of drug dealers. The FBI figured they would catch them turning them in or the dealers lost millions. Tax evasion if nothing else when they brought a million dollars worth to the bank. Never knew how true it was. But it made sense

That was the story on trying to get rid of the $100s that I heard.
Can you imagine that old gangster had thousands of old hundred dollar bills that probably were worth much more than the face value due to the age of the bills (20’s and 30’s) and they had a hard time using them even for face value. Supposedly they had to hire someone to take care of them.
2 million dollars in bills worth maybe 4 million dollars and to only net maybe 1 million from them. Karma for sure! 👍
