That's why we build a wall and not a fence. Uhmm, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a lot of Trump's wall is a fence. ahh duhhh, before you start with education you better look at how much america already spends and where we rank. also are you saying open borders has little to no affect on american citizens.

I never said open borders, I said the money would be better spent on more agents and drones patrolling the border to stop illegals. If you read my past posts, you would see one of my suggestions was armed soldiers at the border. Tell the trespassers to turn around or be shot. I have no sympathy for illegals crossing the border. My only issue is the "dreamers". Those brought here as kids and grew up in the U.S. They have been here 10 years or more and came here as a child, we should create a method where they get to stay and become citizens. Kick everyone else out. The effect can be argued forever. I can show you studies that say immigrants benefit us and illegals contribute more than they cost. I can show you other studies that say the exact opposite. The truth is probably in the middle someplace. My remarks to education and the loan forgiveness is the programs Biden is using he did not create and they are not new. He did streamline the process so more who qualified could get the benefit, but they are old programs that have been around a while. He takes credit for all the loan forgiveness because he and the Dems think it is a winning political position. SCOTUS shut down his original program, so the dems went to this as a backup to make it appear they are keeping a campaign promise. It is the Rural Community Loan Forgiveness Program, the Public Service loan forgiveness program and a couple of others. It was designed to get people in certain fields to take jobs that may pay less than traditional private sector jobs, but get their loans forgiven as a benefit.

It takes numerous types of measures to secure the border. You commented against the wall and you were/are against that measure. You were/are also in favor Biden's loan forgiveness stance. Now you're just looking for things in it that may be justified.

In response to my post- " Security and stuff like funding the military is not in the same league as cancelling student debt and reparations. Look what it is costing us and will continue to cost us because of the lack of a secure border. " You said - " So, you have no issue with deficit spending and the massive debt as long as you agree with the stuff they spend it on. Some would say a better educated society would benefit the nation. What reparations are you talking about? There is nothing at the federal level. " In context sounds like you are in favor of it.

Paying off student loan debt for no public benefit isn’t a well reasoned plan. It does buy loyalty though!

Do you know why farmers and ranchers use fences ? On rare occasions livestock will get over them and under them . Most people are a lot smarter and more creative than livestock. You apparently don’t understand the purpose of a fence in either situation. It’s not about how smart or not smart illegals or livestock are. A fence isn’t concerned with intelligence or the lack thereof. Their purpose is to affect movement, and they do.

“Border wall/fence is a waste of money”
Wow is that ever wrong. Look at what Texas is doing with some rolls of barbed wire!
I wonder how many illegal border crossings they have stopped and how much fentanyl they have kept out.
How many lives has the actions of Texas saved.
The entire country owes Texas their gratitude.

Not just Texas. Florida and other states have also been helping fill the gap the Biden administration has created on the southern border.

Said it before, and will say it again ... as needed.
If a majority of the S&P 500 CEO's thought it was in their short or long term best interest,
the border would be slammed shut tomorrow!"

In 2021, U.S. citizens were 86.3 percent of convicted fentanyl drug traffickers—ten times greater than convictions of illegal immigrants for the same offense.
