Whatever it is, that's a great picture. They are very cool birds to see in action. I saw 14 in one day on the old lease in Osceola county. Most I've ever seen. Only one I’ve seen was at KICCO WMA on a turkey hunt. Had no idea what it was til some research. |

It could be from a Bullfrog ... but a front leg.
No web ... but small pads.
Not a bird appendage.
Not thick enough for an Iguana.
Probably carrion ... snack-sized piece.

Looks like a bird leg to me. I'm thinking along the lines of TRT but I'm looking at it from my phone so...

Looks like four toes, I thought lizards had five toes. Looks too long for the front leg of a frog.
I think it is a bird leg.

Yep....looks like a Lizard to me. No webbing, so not a frog.

Hard to tell exactly what it has.
Reptile should have 5 toes
While a frogs front feet would have 4 toes it wouldn't have claws
Given the length of the tarsal bone, length of toes, and the claws, I would lean towards a bird, but then I would think the 4th digit would be more posterior. Also, there should be scales on the tarsal but I can't see any in the photo. However, it appears to be partially decomposed, so it likely slipped the skin.

Cannot tell for sure... Some sort of leg and foot I believe..... Bird or Bullfrog possibly.
I don't know what's in its mouth, lizard leg perhaps, but I have seen more Crested Caracaras this year than the last eight years combined.

I do not know the answer..... I have cropped the photo and cleaned up and sharpened the leg as much as I can.....

I see a lot every year.. But I go out and actively look for them and have going back to my childhood.... I have a father that humored me and took me for drives and hikes looking for them... I have them pretty well dialed in.
That being said...... I DO feel strongly that their population is increasing..... And I know that they are expanding their range......
And now another species of Caracara seems to be looking to colonize Florida....
The Yellow Headed Caracara has been showing up in Florida on a fairly regular basis..... I personally have not seen one out there. but I know people that have....
I know an area that there is a fair chance I might see one..... There is an area in western Dade County where what most folks think is a bonded pair are seen on a regular basis.... But no nesting behavior has been documented..... I have not gone looking for them yet.... It is over a 500 mile round trip from my house. I drive farther than that often to photograph animals.... But to drive that far to maybe see two specific birds is a stretch for me...

Seen most of them around Immokolee and LaBelle areas. None so far in the Bend.
